Oh the Hypocrisy!
DIL sends us videos/photos on DGD every week. She just turned 19 months old. DIL is an elementary school teacher by trade and loves to do arts/crafts, alphabet games and the like with DGD.
We received a video with DIL giving her a tiny piece of graham cracker. Then they launched into word games. Chef immediately said "She shouldn't talk with her mouth full. " I couldn't even tell she had the 1/2" piece of graham cracker in her mouth as she went through the various words she knows.
Really? I guess he forgot his 10, 8 and 4 yr old consistantly jamming their cheeks full of junk food and spewing chunks while simultaneously laughing/talking. Chef never said a peep then.
Then there was a video of GDG walking up to a huge christmas tree at a town square (not galloping/charging the way his ferals would do in public).
She gently touched and patted the ornaments under the watchful eye of Awesomeson (my DS). Chef immediately blurted out "don't touch!" Again, REALLY??!! Does he not remember his the ferals racing through store aisles, almost knocking patrons down, climbing store shelves, fiddling and poking everything in sight and him not saying a WORD?
Does he not remember in particular YSS at age 6 yrs ripping knobs off all the display appliances at a big box store then sheepishly going behind him and putting the knobs back on without saying word one to YSS?
What about the time I came home from work to find YSS swinging a small circular saw by its cable and wielding a claw hammer with Chef in another room oblivious?
Or the time I pull in from work to find all three ferals getting ready to spray paint the house and vehicles, again with Chef no where in sight? Chef never said a word to them about these two incidents either!

People who are bad parents
People who are bad parents can become good grandparents, its like they learn from their mistakes, finally. The bar is also much lower to be a good grandparent. I wonder if he would actually do any of these corrections if DGD was in your care.
Still, it is insufferable to listen to! It's like someone who is a horrible cook acting like a professional food critic.

Yeah, I've looked at DH incredulity before and said "really?!" Out loud several times when he's complained about annoying children in a restaurant. I mean, the SDs were atrocious in restaurants! Once I myself left to get away from the three of them. He was like "what?!" I did explain.
I don't think
There is no word to describe Chef's ferals at restaurants. Atrocious seems too mild a word! The other patrons would give us menacing stares--all lost on Chef. I thought we were about to be thrown out once as his brats literally would lie down in the corridors for people to trip over them.
They would block entry ways reminiscent of their grandmother Battleaxe Galactica, scream at the top of their lungs, try to stand on the dining room table, shove straws up their nose, blow chunks of food all over the table, spit, crawl around on the floor, eat with their hands, make farting noises, throw their silverware on the floor, turn around and stare at others, refuse to order from the kids menu yet wouldn't touch their food.
Chef never corrected them nor said a thing.

Run up/down the aisles, jump on the booth seats if they were at all bouncy, crawl under the table, run outside/inside and to/from the bathroom, eat all the sugar and creamers if they were on the table, yell, complain, whine, sometimes throw food at each other (fries), make straws into toys/throw them, refuse to take off their coats, take off their shoes, refuse to use the tableware, stand on the chair/bench instead of sitting, leave most of the food uneaten.
And DH would just let them. At ages 7 & 9. By the time they were 8 & 10 I wasn't going to restaurants with them any longer.

I stopped going to restaurants with YSS and Chef simply to keep from being grossed out. Of course Chef was all butt hurt.
