There is no CS  forbearance, pause or forgiveness

That is all.

Child support is calculated on earnings. There for if a person loses their job through no fault of their own it should be adjusted.

Yes kids still need supported but "normal" families figure it out when one person loses an income.

The thing is child support is a broken system that is calculated poorly. I agree with some child support BUT it's too much if the paying parent is also exercising visitation.

No breaks for the wallets....er NCPs! In fact, we just received a COLA letter informing DH that his CS obligations for one 18 year old "child" will increase to $500 a month. So, they are enforcing automatic CS increases in my state at this time. Hopefully he can get it sorted out soon because CS should have ended 5 weeks ago for the darling little drop out.

It's funny that increases are automatic, but any decrease takes lawyers and judges and months of waiting.

If it makes you feel better, my DH pays 1K for a 20-year-old. Thankfully we both seem to have secure jobs.

It would be that high for us if my DH didnt have 50/50 custody on paper.

And no, that just makes me angrier at the system. No one should be paying that for an adult who isn't even a citizen of the country enforcing the order.

BM dropped her CS increase request earlier this year, before Coronavirus hit, and I bet she’s regretting it now.

Our theory is that she most likely realized the state would look into her fictitious earnings claim. If I recall, she put down that she made 5k, yes $5,000, A YEAR.

That’s a lie.
