Unfortunately, we found out the other day that DH did not get the job at big bank.  Honestly, we are completely shocked; it seemed like a slam dunk.  His last interview was right when we got back from Iceland, and seemed more like a formality than anything.  He interviewed with someone who would be his peer and they talked kind of the technical/business side of the job.  At one point, she asked him why he wants to take a job that is so much lower than his previous role.  He said that he is starting in a new territory, at a new bank, in a new marketplace and thinkgs its best to work his way up and learn the ropes.  She actually said to him that was the PERFECT answer, and is exactly the answer she gave during her interview.

Then days without a peep from the bank.  Previously, they were calling within 24-48 hours to set up next rounds, etc.  We sort of assumed maybe the delay was that they were working on an offer.  Finally, after 5 days, DH called to follow up.  HR was very apologetic but said they were going with another candidate, but they would keep him in mind for other roles and cal him if this fell through. 

DH thinks that going to Iceland really screwed us.  Everythingw as moving along and he had a good momentum going, then we put things on hold and gave them a week to interview other people.  I told him we can't think like that; it was an amazing trips, and imagine if we cancelled going and lost all the money we deposited, then he didn't get the job anyway.  It was a huge blow, we really thought this was the one.  We are both very sad.

Thankfully, he's been keeping busy in his new "CIO" role with my dad's friends company.  Currently, he is building them websites, having new logos designed, and he just ordered a drone (the guy wants arial photographs of the properties in his portfolio and DH happens to be an incredible photographer).  The month he was paid for is almost up, so we need to figure out if this guy set DH up on a W2 or not yet.  At least that is a decent income coming in that will cover child support and some other bills.  I'm going to give that a few months and see how solid this guy is, and if all looks good, maybe revisit having a kid.  My birthday is mid-June, so maybe for my birthday I'll ask to throw away my birth control pills, LOL.

Just wanted to give you guys an update, I know some of you have been following the series of hard knocks DH and I have gone through the last 2+ years.  I can't believe June 10th will be 3 years since DH was laid off....
