O/T Tone Up Tuesday
Didn't see the usual blog up here so I though I'd start a thread. So far I have lost 14.2 lbs and still a way to go. I've discovered that I might be allergic to Stevia... Hmmmm. Funny thing, xylitol never bothered me but it seems that Stevia is!

I went on a cleanse for a few weeks before Christmas, and I dropped just over 10 pounds. I've been able to keep if off since.
Many people believe that eating more salads and fruits/veggies helps lose weight... it does, to a certain extent, but not really... if you starve your body by eating nothing but salads, it will latch on to whatever fats are in any oils/dairy/breads, and will hoard any sugars you consume whether natural or artificial... and you will end up gaining weight rather than losing weight.
It's a "popular problem" - "I've been eating nothing but salad all week - and I've GAINED a pound!" Yeah. Biology. You won't lose weight by eating more salad.
I've found I always feel better the next day when I have something a little heavier for lunch (like lentils, or more meat) and lighter for dinner... I don't seem as tired that night, either.
I've started up using my weights again - each night that ss is not with us, I spend an hour working out with DH. It's been great - he's really been helping me out... he knows exactly what I should be doing to tone up certain parts and amass muscle in other parts... Easy for him - he went from 17 inch arms to 19 inch arms since our wedding... and from a 48 1/2 inch chest to 50 inch chest... his waist went from 38 to 36... now he's working on his chicken legs... lol

With the salads.... A SHOCKING amount of people really don't process raw veggies super well and would get more out of them if they were cooked anyways
Smart choices doesn't mean eating like a rabbit! When I lost weight, yes I upped my veggie intake, but I didn't start living off salads!
It's all about how your body
It's all about how your body metabolizes what you DO eat, and the combinations of foods... amounts of proteins, starches, sugars, how you body absorbs them and what the enzymes attach too before converting... a piece of cheese or a tablespoon of oily dressing can UNDO everything good about a salad.
Of COURSE people don't process natural foods well anymore... They're too used to fake foods. lol
The main parts of my cleanse were fruits and veggies as well as lean proteins. No dairy, no starch, no carbs... no fats or sugars.... Very restrictive.
I still ate EXTREMELY well....and had much more energy than if I'd had a big ole' plateful of carbs.

you body can only digest so much of it.
You can eat a 12 ounce steak all you want, but after a few ounces (I think 5... maybe a little more but less than 8....) your body just doesn't process it.
Your body processes half a chicken breast, you literally poop out 100% of the nutritional value of the OTHER half of the chicken breast. Same with beef, fish, any protein really - your body can only handle so much, and you're literally eliminating the rest.
People also generally get rid of the actual nutritional parts of fruits and veggies.... most nutrition is in the peels of carrots... potatoes... apples... cucumbers/zucchinis... tomatoes...
The more you eat fats, the more you crave it, and the more sluggish you will be when you don't get it. Not because it gives you energy, but rather because it excites your tastebuds, which then tricks your body into believing you've given it energy... just to slump back even further.

I always enjoyed weight training when I did it. According to my 23 and me DNA analysis I have a tendency to be overweight AND I have the "athletic" gene! LOL
