The Perils of Ann- Part Two
A while back, I posted about my friend Ann, who was getting hot and heavy with her new hunk, Tom. If you recall, Ann has been divorced about 8 years and has a 9 year old son. Hunka Hunka (Tom) has two kids, a 9 year old girl and 7 year old boy. Ann has her son FT, and Tom gets his kids week on/week off.
Anyway, Ann and Tom are now "super serious" at NINE whole weeks into the relationship. Oh yes. Ann wants to hear NOTHING about the blended family life from myself or other friends who have BTDT. Why?
"It isn't like that with us."
"The kids love me already."
"I can handle BM."
"It'll be different for us. What we have is special."
:O
Ann, Ann, Ann....
All I can do is sit back and watch.
I hope things work out for them, and she doesn't end up where most of us on this site are or have been. I love Ann, we've been friends forever, but she's in the Honeymoon Zone and hasn't had those rose-colored contacts ripped out of her eyeballs yet. She refuses to see the red flags:
1. BM with a MH diagnosis who wants to be her kids' BFF
2. A NINE year old SD who screams at, swears at, and hits her mother
3. A boyfriend who I think reaaaally wants a "new mommy" for his kids
This woman turns 40 this year and has been freaking out about having another baby. She's talked for years about needing a father figure for her son, as he only sees his father (who's a POS anyway) a few times a year. This is the first guy in a while who's stuck around, so...there you go.
Ann just finished showing me the photos of the "family trip" they all took together this past weekend. Yup. Family trip. Her son went on and on about his "brother and sister." Yikes, Ann.
Good luck, girl. That's all I have left to say since you're too far gone to hear any sense.

That SD's got some serious
That SD's got some serious issues, but she and Ann have a "tight friendship bond," so she'll always choose her influence over her mother's. OK, Ann.

Same here. DH and I had the "Perfect" blended family until the wedding date was confirmed. BM may have married someone three weeks after she and DH divorced, but she never moved on emotionally.
