Update on "white girl"
She got a C in the class thanks in part to getting full credit for the presentation that day and the "white girl" comment. Dh says her main presentation, not the part about the brownies, was an essay on holidays. He says the essay was "pretty negative." He didn't like it.
But this is exactly why she got a C in this class instead of an F. It's a class (English) that gives her a platform to expound all the bilious thoughts in her head and even she can't resist doing some of the homework because otherwise that platform would sail right past. Can't have that. Must...bloviate...biliousness!
Final report card: F, F, F, D, C, C.
The other C came in another fun class, Art. SD15 considers herself an artist. It was the Art teacher who sent the first email we know of about her bad attitude! But it's still difficult to out and out flunk an art class when all you have to do is play with play-dough. She managed to pull the grade down by not following directions or finishing projects.
DH seems to think the negativity in her holiday essay is "disappointing." But it can only be disappointing if it's a surprise and her negativity is no surprise to me.
We did have a nice talk where I told him last year at this time I was the only one worried about SD15 and couldn't get him to believe me but now he's fully worried as he should be and has taken multiple steps to intervene. He was discouraged and said none of his intervention had helped. I disagreed, she'd very likely already be a dropout by now if he hadn't stepped up his game. He said it was hard to realize your kids could be anything but "gold-plated." I told him I knew it was painful but facing the truth made him able to give her more of what she actually needs.
Sooooooo. 3 Fs, a D, and 2 Cs. I've never known a kid with grades like this.

Really? What other behavior
Really? What other behavior did she have to get a juvenile officer involved? I wish we could make that threat to sd15 about a group home based on these grades!
Oh, I just love all that
Oh, I just love all that "loosing" that goes on! Grrr.
You've got a live wire there. Interesting that a kid so troubled can manage to pull better grades than my sd can.
My sd15 is too lazy to run away. Plus where on earth would she find where she could be the center of attention at all times so easily as she does at home? There'd be no point for her.
Well, good luck with yours.
