School Concert
SD9 asked me SO nicely last night to come to her school concert on Thursday. It's during the day, but I have a very laid back job and it's easy for me to take time off. Obviously, it's going to be boring and I don't want to go - but she asked so nicely! Her mom can't go, apparently she got a second job (which I don't understand!) She gets child support even though it's a 50/50 split, she has a FT job already and a husband with a FT job... you only see your kids EOW and you get a second job taking even more time away from seeing them? Anyways, so BM isn't going. My SO doesn't even really want to, I mean really - who enjoys these things? Even though I don't want to go, I think I have decided to just do it. Grab a single flower on my way and make her day when she sees me afterwards w/a flower for her. She's a sweet kid and since her mom is apparently never around anymore, I'm more than happy to do something like this for her.
Oh and btw, I have no delusions or want to be her "mother" - she has one. As long as SD9 stays respectful to me, I'm more than willing to be there for her when she wants/needs me.

Aw that's nice that she asked you. You SHOULD go!
I wish I had a better relationship with SD16 where we could get our nails done, go shopping together, etc. But that ship has sailed....If you have a good skid and can make a difference in her life then go for it!
Thanks! I'm crossing my
Thanks! I'm crossing my fingers that things will stay good with SD9 and SS8. So far things have been pretty good! I'm hoping the teenage years (or crap talk from BM) doesn't change that!
You should definitely go. If
You should definitely go. If you guys have a good relationship and she is asking you nicely to come, she wants you more in her life. Go with it, take it while you can! SD11's orchestra concerts are boring and BRUTAL (I have perfect pitch) but it is sweet and I'm proud of her. And I'm glad she wants me there!
Yea, I'm not really looking
Yea, I'm not really looking forward to it, I don't have kids - I'm not supposed to have to attend these lame functions! lol
On the bright side - I've made plans with SO - he'll pick me up from work, we'll go together, then have lunch before heading back to work. So it'll be a nice break from work and we'll get a mini-date out of the deal
