BF Ex drives me nuts

So my BF cousins GF just had a baby girl...yahoo.My BF other cousin is still friends with BF ex so they were talking about the new baby.The ex asks if there will be a baby shower and says she would love to come.First of all the ex isn't even friends with the one who had the baby...actually last time I talked to babies Mom she hated the ex.So iget a phone call today from my MIL saying that the ex may be at the shower...how did I feel about that?I told her I wasn't very comfortable around her but also mature enough to deal with it.Then I told her I was a little shocked that she might be there because last I heard babied Mom doesn't even like her...and isn't the shower for her?Anyway we'll see what happens.I just can't believe she had the nerve to invite herself.I just wish she would realize she isn't part of this family anymore and give me the chance to become more a part of it.At least my dear MIL did say that it is me before her.I love my MIL.

Why some of these X's feel there is still a conection with X family memebers when there is not. I know in some cases there is--but like in our situation BM will go out of her way to visit with my BF's parents and sister--and she knows they do not care for her--or her parenting methods.

She will still come up at events when we are all sitting together just to say hi and chat with her X in-laws. It drives me up the wall--but I act like she's not there and things go fine. It makes the in-laws feel more uncomfortable then it does me. My MIL has even apologized to me for talking to BM--saying she knows we don't get along but she didn't want to be rude with the kids there--I respect that. Some people just never get the point.

I really thinks it's a control thing more then anything. The whole "I was here before you were ." Deal and as much as it sucks I just remind myself that it just makes her look foolish to go out of her way to hang with her X and his family--when everyone knows they don't care for her. What is she trying to prove? I don't have a clue
