Kinda Sad- FDH seemed a little hopeful that SD "might have Asberger's"
Last night FDH took SD to the therapist. (Getting her there is a blog of its own for another time). Anyway, while she was in there, he met with the Psychiatrist who will be doing a full work up on her to determine if she has some sort of disorder/diagnoses. I am still betting on the DSM "Shitty Parenting" diagnosis myself.
Anyway, he told me that this doctor gave him a "quiz" for him and BM to fill out. Based on how he described SD, the doc thought she might have Asbergers thus the quiz. I read through it and I would be SHOCKED if she has it. I think she just acts jerky b/c she can.
The sad part was that FDH seemed a little hopeful. I know that he and BM really want something to point to in order to explain her. But I think they really need to point at themselves first, clean up their parenting acts, THEN take her for a psych eval if that doesn't bear any fruit. It just made me sad to see him actually slightly excited that "THIS may be it!" OK, so far we have diabetes, "social anxiety", being a lesbian and parents divorce 7 years ago to blame. Let's add on Asbergers instead of looking at the real problem. Just sad.
Oh and by the way, I learned something new last night. He has always acted like her defiance is a new thing and she used to be a sweet little thing. He slipped and told me she RAN AWAY from YMCA after school care at age 7. They caught her and asked that she never return. Hmmm...

BTW- She *could* have
BTW- She *could* have something actually wrong and if so, I hope they find it. But if I were a betting woman...
Wow. I think anyone who
Wow. I think anyone who wishes to have a child anywhere on the autism spectrum should have to deal with an autistic child for a day.
They'd be on their knees thanking whatever god they pray to that the only thing wrong with their kid is shitty parents.
Best day of my life was when SD6's counselor told BM3 and DH that the child doesn't have a behavioral disorder, she just has a flaky mom and she's maladjusted from having to bounce back and forth all the time.
Yep. That just about covers it.
That is so sad. I have
That is so sad. I have Aspergers and it certainly isn't something to be hopeful about.
I agree with everything you said. Fdh and bm need to look at themselves first and get their parenting acts together, then take her in for a psych evaluation.
That is sad. DH tries to
That is sad.
DH tries to pretend that SD17 used to be a sweet little girl. Yep she was so sweet that she chased away any and all girlfriends. His fiancé left him years ago because she hated SD!! SD was only 5 at the time!!
