You are a marriage, and you two need to be on the same page on things... He needs to tell you these things...

DH used to buy random toys for SD5 (and my 1 year old son). One day I told him, that I don't think they should get random toys for no occasions... I actually got overupset, I shouldn't have. He even said he was going to give them back; it was like less than $10.00 between the two toys... from then, if he comes with something for them he shows/asks me first. Even if it is something very cheap and simple.

I don't want SD5 or BS1 to get used of getting presents without a reason. I think they should be very grateful anf look fwd to get things on special occasions. And not make it like "normal" and/or expected.
