Hello...here is your wake up call!
So I get a call from the school this morning that SD14 has an e-cig on the bus. She was called out of science class, and the e-cig and nicotine stuff were in her purse. Naturally, she said it wasn't hers...you know, like that cup you were told to pick up that was just in your hand an hour ago wasn't yours! Anyway, I call DH and tell him that he needs to call the school and relayed to him what was told to me. When I got to the "it wasn't hers" part of it, he was like, "Of course it isn't...she probably got it from one of her little friends!" Really? I made it really clear to him that I did not appreciate my work day being interrupted having to get calls about SD14 getting in trouble!
Afterwards, DH starts texting me frustrated that the school isn't picking up their phone. Like I really need that, either! Deal with it! This is your daughter, your problem. Don't get frustrated with me because you are inconvenienced because SD14 did something stupid again, and is not getting in-school-suspension!
Bad thing is, I doubt there will be any punishment. She will have some story about how someone asked her to hold it for them or some stupid stuff like that, and he will buy it hook, line, and sinker. I can promise you that SD14 was probably puffing away on it on the bus! He will have some sort of weakness, because he uses a vapor device, and will say, "Well, at least she isn't smoking real cigarettes." Come on! It is against the law for her to even have the e-cig! I smoked from age 16 to age 31, that doesn't mean that I'm going to condone my kids smoking underage! Just because I did it as a teen doesn't make it any less stupid or illegal! HELLO! And personally, when I thought about it later, I was pissed at my mom for not kicking my butt when she found out...using the excuse that she smoked so what was she going to tell me. Um, that it was against the law until I was 18? That is what she could have told me!
And from the sound of it, she didn't jack it from DH, because he doesn't own any of the actual e-cigs...he has the full on vapor device...so I don't know where she got it.
DH needs to come down on her hard, but I'm sure she may just get a talk, and that is all. Next thing I know, he will be allowing her to vape as long as she only does at home, and that isn't a solution either! That's like saying it is okay to smoke cigarettes as long as it is at home...it is still illegal...she is only 14!!!
why is the school calling you
why is the school calling you and not her dad or mom? is it because they call the house phone and you work at home? if you have caller ID i just wouldnt answer if the school number shows up.
i continue to be mystified that kids today even want to get into cigarette use since they have all grown up in the era of things like the great american smokeout, etc.
They called me on my cell
They called me on my cell phone, and I can't just ignore the call, because BS19 goes to the same school...he is a senior. With him in sports and all kinds of stuff, and the college stuff going on, I need to answer in case it is something important to do with him. I did ask DH point blank why they were calling me, and he said it was probably because he didn't answer his phone when he saw the number because he gets too many robo-calls from the school about this or that. Really? He knows good and well the robo-calls do not happen until after the school day is over...they go out around 5 p.m., and the "absent" calls go out at 6 p.m.! Lame excuse if you ask me. I don't care if you are tired of robo-calls...if it is the number of the school your kid is in, you pick it up!
You can bet I won't be answering ANY calls from the school after May! BS19 will be graduated, and I will have no further need to talk to anyone at the school.
And why? Remember...this is the same kid who has already been caught 3 times smoking pot! Yeah, she has no shame!
Lots of yelling...no
Lots of yelling...no punishment. "Oh, she is broken now. She is finally done with doing stupid stuff!" You bought that? She also left the inside of the school without permission, and tried to lie about it, but the camera caught her...caught her running when she realized she was in view of the camera to hide! HOW DUMB CAN YOU BE?
Like I said, no punishment...UGH!
It's insane! Every single
It's insane! Every single time she says she's done doing stupid stuff...lays on the water works and everything...and DH thinks she is finally "broken" and done with the crap! She then spends about a week being all sweet to everyone in the house and not hibernating in her room. After that, she slips back into treating everyone like crap, and within a month or two does something like this again!
First, she tried to say that some guy told her to hold the e-cig, then it turned out it was one of her girl friends...the same friend who's house she was apparently at when the pictures were taken of her stoned! When DH asked if she did anything else stupid today, she acted like he didn't know what he was talking about until he asked about her leaving the school building. She tried to say she walked outside to get air, until DH told her she was caught on the camera. Then the story started changing every 5 seconds!
The lying, the e-cig, the leaving the building? No punishment? She has been sitting here all night watching TV, texting, DH sharing his candy with her. It is literally making me sick to my stomach! Tablet still sitting in her room with full internet access...ugh! Yeah...he needs his head checked!
You know....there is a part
You know....there is a part of this story that has been bothering me, that for some reason DH is completely missing. So, it was the morning bus driver that reported to the office that SD14 had the e-cig on the bus. SD14 is claiming that this one particular friend gave it to her to hold on to, making it sound like the friend gave it to her while they were on the bus. Here is the problem (that DH is not picking up on), this particular friend does not ride SD14's bus! He seems to forget that when SD14 was going over to this girl's house after school, he had to ride a note to allow her to on the other bus that went to the friend's house. Why is he missing this and not calling her on it?
How is this significant? Well, if she was just holding it for the friend, the friend doesn't ride her bus, and the morning bus driver saw SD14 with the e-cig, why was it out of her purse? Was she actually "smoking" it? I'm thinking so (though she is claiming she didn't even use the thing). How long had she actually had the e-cig and/or been using it? I mean, e-cigs don't leave lingering smells like actual cigarettes do, so she could have been puffing away on it all those times she was hibernating in her room, and since I never go in there, and DH always knocks before going in there (and she always takes forever to say he can come in), she could have been hiding it whenever he got there.
DH is an idiot!
Right back to being her
Right back to being her inconsiderate self already, I see!
We get home from church. As much as I would like to get out of my church clothes and relax, I end up going back out in the cold with the dogs, because SD14 and DH are totally ignoring them sctarching at the door to go out. While I'm dealing with the dogs, SD14 rushes to change her clothes, and then goes into the TV room and plops her butt in the chair I always sit in, rather than her usual end of the couch. I come back in and look at her, and she totally ignores me!
I change my clothes and lay down on the bed, and DH wonders what I'm doing. I point out that SD14 has planted herself in my chair, and I really don't feel like dealing with her right now. He tries to say that if I just go stand next to the chair, she will eventually stand up. Really? I'm supposed to go out there and play her little game of standing there until I'm acknowledged, when she knows good and well when we get home I like to relax in MY chair, and she made it a point to plop her back side in it instead of her usual spot on the couch?
Now, some may think this is petty...that I should just be the bigger person and go sit on the couch...but this is my chair! She didn't buy it, and I always sit in it...always! She knows this, but because she has se wild hair today, she thinks today is different! I don't think so! And DH will not even tell her to move! So now I'm sitting here in my room, because I know if I go out there and she ignores me or rolls her eyes at me, I will want to slap her!
{{{{HUGS}}}} sounds terrible!
{{{{HUGS}}}} sounds terrible! What are his parents doing through all of this?
DH finally decided to come talk to me about the chair thing. He asked what the big deal was. I told him flat out that SD14 knows that is my chair. I explained to him that maybe I was brought up differently, but my mom had a particular place she liked to sit in our living room, and it was understood out of respect that you did not plop in her spot...even if she was not in the room. SD14 knows this is my preferred spot to sit, but in her mind it was more of a "na na...I got here first" attitude. It was also understood that if all seats were taken, and an adult walked in the room, I'd better get my happy butt up pronto and give my seat up to them. Again...respect! SD14 has a very bad habit of not retreating to the floor if an adult comes into the room, and there no other seats...even if that person is her grandmother!
I heard DH finally go out to the living room and tell SD14 that it was not appropriate for her to take my chair when there were other places for her to sit. He made her retreat to her usual spot. I still didn't come out of my room until the movie I was watching was over.
And finally DH enforced a rule tonight! We were watching TV, and we hear loud music coming from the other end of the house. DH looks down the house, and notes that SD14 is in the bathroom, and the music Ses to be coming from there. Remember, one of her rules is no music in the bathroom...one, because she takes too long in the shower when she has music, and 2 because the steam is not good for electonics, and she has already killed too many of them (phones, tablets, computers...yes, all plural for a reason). DH goes down there, and sure enough the music is coming from the bathroom! DH orders SD14 to turn off the water, get out of the shower, and slide the phone to him under the door!! She tries to give DH some lame excuse that she forgot her phone was in her pocket when she went into the bathroom. He called BS telling her, "oh, but you take it out if your pocket and turn on the music?" Yeah...the music didn't start playing until after she was in the bathroom, and it wasn't a ring tone...her phone is always on silent!
After she finished her shower, DH called her into the TV and warned her that he is done caring if she has a phone...next time he will just take it away for good!
