DH was pretty sick recently and we ended up in emergency a couple weekends ago (he has made what appears to be a good recovery) but it was rather scary and I worried myself sick looking after him. Anyway, H let FIL know, who was concerned of course and would ask H pretty much every day how he was doing

FIL is the person everyone communicates 'through' in H's family so of course FIL would tell H's sister about it and probably H's daughters as well

H mentions to me today that no one (other than FIL) has called him about it

FIL did say that H's eldest had called to let FIL know what she would like H to buy her for her birthday, but not one word of concern over H's situation and whether he is okay

I said nothing about it when H mentioned this to me today, that would only result in H getting angry and actually defending them by coming up with excuses for their behavior, but I think it just shows H who the people are that really care about him

His wife who has been through the whole ordeal with him and there every day looking after him, or his selfish and cruel sister and daughter who can't so much as be bothered to pick up the phone to call and even ask if he is okay

Sad really
