Upsetting Argument
So SO and I had a huge fight because I am sick and tired of my SD5 destroying everything she can get her hands on. I asked him to please do something about this because I can not afford to keep replacing things that she destroys. He told me to do something about it.
I told him that I am not her mother, nor do I have any right to discipline her for things that she does, since she is not my kid. He then proceeded to tell me that every time I tell him that she is not mine, or that I do not have to do anything to help him out when it comes to disciplining her or taking care of her that I am creating resentment and jealousy in our relationship.
WTH! I explained that there was already jealousy and resentment because of his choices, and that since she is not my child, I shouldn't be responsible for what she does.
Most of the books (and many if the posts on this site) explain that I should step back, and let the child's parent deal with issues such as discipline. How can I get my SO to see that I don't have any legal rights to the child, therefore, I have no rights or obligation to deal with the child?
P.S. SO tried to pull the "having a child means you never get a break" crap. We have been TTC for a couple of years. I tried to explain that my own child would be different. He does not seem to get where I am coming from.
God men are so stupid. That
God men are so stupid. That is all.
Agreed!!
Agreed!!
Stop TTC. You need to be in
Stop TTC. You need to be in this relationship long enough to know that it isn't going to work. His zero parenting skills and lack of feeling for you are going to kill off any feelings you have for him. You do not want to bring a child in what will inevitably be a broken relationship AND be tied to him for several decades at a minimum.
If you can see the writing on the wall go ahead and leave now but if not for heavens sake keep your legs together. Even birth control can fail and you're really screwed. No pun intended. Jeeze just leave and no good by sex.

Sounds like a fight I just had with DH regarding his dog he has roaming around the yard that non one pays any attention to.
