Step parent gender inequality

GodHelpME's picture

Ok, so I've noticed there seems to be some major inequality about stepparents roles and responsibilities based on gender. I was a step kid. My father died and my mom remarried. I never expected my stepdad to replace my father. All I wanted him to do was make my mom happy. That was his job. Now I'm a sm of a sd. (I never wanted girls) and a bm of a bs but because I am a woman I am expected to be her second mom. Why can't I just be her dads wife and another adult who gives her good advice?

There seems to be so much expectations on women. How can you expect me to love this child as my own? Newsflash she's not mine!
