NEEDING TO VENT (NOT SD RELATED)
OMG so one of my bosses just made me feel like crap (she always does this).
So the other day she asks me to send her an email with all the dates I'm unavailable to work. Mind you, I'm only "supposed" to work Monday-Friday... BUT being that I work for a family owned business everyone chips in on the weekends here or there... no biggie... I don't mind doing it when I don't already have plans. BUT I'm not going to put my life (or the life of my family) on hold just for my work. So, I sent her the list of days that my DH, SD, & I have plans (Saturdays & Sundays) stating that I will not be able to work those days.
One of the days happens to be my direct boss's son (my direct boss and I get along great) wedding day. I informed my direct boss when my DH bought me concert tickets for the day of the wedding (my bday is the same day). He did it as a surprise, and forgot about the wedding being that day too. My direct boss said it was no big deal and to go out and enjoy my bday. The other boss just ripped me a new one for this! She said she couldn't believe I hadn't attended any of their kids weddings (I was in a wedding on the same day as one of them (direct bosses older son), and quite frankly- I didn't want to go to her DD's wedding).
Yes DH and I are going to go see 4 concerts this summer (3 by ourselves, and one with SD) and we're also taking SD on a mini-vacation this summer to which we only needed to ask for Friday off (since we're both supposed to be off on the weekends anyhow).
I explained to my boss that with the exception of one of the concerts, I would be available to work in the morning, just not the afternoon or evening.
I told my direct boss about what happened, and she explained how sorry she is, and that's she's going to say something to my other boss (happens to be her SIL- and they do not get along).
This woman is getting on my last nerve. I swear, if it weren't for my direct boss, her DH, or our general manager... I would have left this place a long time ago (and I'm not the only one who feels this way).
Work related issues are
Work related issues are difficult to maneuver when you have to depend on the job to live. I get why you're upset and totally understand.
I don't understand why your boss has an issue if your DIRECT boss doesn't? I'd simply say "I've cleared this already with DIRECT boss, so I'm not sure why you have a problem with it, since she doesn't". And leave it at that.
