O/T - Acid Reflux
A few months ago, I started getting heartburn really bad. Did the upper GI and did not have ulcers like I thought I would. But she did diagnose GERD.
I started taking Prisolec and it has helped A LOT. But, I feel "out of sorts" and I am not sure if it because of that or what. A little depressed...a little angry.
Anyone ever taken this before?

Thank you for the chocolate
Thank you for the chocolate tip. I have a hiatal hernia and suffer from acid reflux as a result.
Didn't know about the chocolate. Thank you!!
She also said I had a hiatal
She also said I had a hiatal hernia, but did not say it had anything to do with the reflux. What do you take?
hiatal hernias usually go
hiatal hernias usually go hand in hand with GERD.
When I was really overweight (not saying you are!!) I had GERD horribly especially at night. I found that if I stopped eating anything after 6pm it got a lot better. And once I lost weight it completely went away.
However, drinking alcohol makes it rear it's ugly head, as does sleeping on my side (look at a picture of the stomach, when you lay on your right your esophagus is positioned for more to reflux into it from the stomach)
Actually I am overweight. I
Actually I am overweight. I didn't have a problem with anything until I started packing on the pounds.
I also noticed any grains or sugar make it worse as well.
I can't sleep on my back, but I use a body pillow when I sleep on my side.
I take Prilosec as well.
I take Prilosec as well.
Thanks...I am not a big fan
Thanks...I am not a big fan of Candy/chocolate. But I sure used to like to have a few beers or wine before bed. That really kicks in the heart burn!
I can drink a few now since I got on the prisolec, but still not sure if it is going to be right for me or not. I guess it is better than the reflux. That is a terrible pain!
my DH is really really bad
my DH is really really bad off with GERD. the only thing that has truly helped him is nexium. it's just once a day, preferably on an empty stomach. the gi specialist said that is one of the absolute best, and it has absolutely worked wonders with dh. if he forgets to get his refilled, it's back within the next day and he'll start popping tums like candy and having a really hard time with food getting stuck in his esophagus. they say side effects of stomach issues are possible but go away after a while- but dh has never had any sort of side effects at all from it.
