O/T-Whose Pizza is this Anyways?
Hello Everyone,
Who is unhappy with their job?
I have a lot of time to sit at my desk and think and in that time I am immersed with plenty of work to keep my hands busy lol. But not my mind!
My job consists of Answering Phones, Greeting Customers, Invoicing (stapling & mailing also e-mailing), trying to figure out which pizza belongs to which individual, coordinating, finding answers when no one wants to help, getting blamed by a/r, performing minimal HR duties because they dont want phone calls, etc oh and scanning and indexing, couriering, this is done in an 8 hr period 5 days/week....in case you didnt know I am a receptionist lol!
Admittedly, I can accept when I do something wrong, but lately I have been fucking up and its really getting me down.
These are actual e-mails Ive been getting lately:
Please make sure you check invoices carefully. As I have mentioned to you earlier there has been mistakes in the past when invoices are not checked properly. We don’t keep hard copies; scan images are the only proof we have as POD. If the invoice leave the building without proper scanning or checking we might not get the proper payment
Thanks for your co operation!

I have noticed for the last couple weeks you have been coming late in the morning again. It affects your performance and also leads to the employee that is covering you behind in their scheduled work too.
We have talked about this before and it did got better that time but you are being late again.
Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Speedy employees. Please make sure you come on time from now on.
There have been times where I am late(daughter makes it impossible to get to work on times, throws tantrums) but ultimately, my fault so I get it.
This job is below my capabilities, but due to insecurity and lack of confidence I thought a reception job would be the only job I would get....now Im beginning to think differently and would go back to retail.
My last job I was an ADMIN Assistant for 5 years, but had to leave due to lack of raise and crappy hours.
So I am at crossroads, should I finish school and get a p/t job or stay here and go to school p/t? which is what ive been doing.
Sorry to be a bummer on a Friday.
I am going thru mirena withdrawal and I get weird heart palpitations, anxiety issues, plus this job adds on to it...and we just moved Monday.
Any input would be great and if you hate your job, I feel bad that you hate it, but it is nice to know, im not the only one.
Have a Great Weekend!

I don't love mine, but it's a government job so it pays well and has a good pension. Otherwise, I would've been out of here a long time ago! Some days are mind numbing.
I finished grad school to get my MSW last year, but there are no state positions in my state right now for social workers, and leaving to go to a private agency would mean a huge pay cut. So...here I stay. But I learned lots of skills that have been an asset to my current job, and I feel like it was a huge accomplishment in itself. I went to school PT as a single mom while working FT. It was hard, but if I could do it, anyone can. If the degree you want will help you, then I say go for it!
I hope you have a great weekend too!!

Good for you, your in the Government...hard to get into.
I am thinking about doing social work as a post degree...but like you, there are not many jobs in that field currently.
Yes it is challenging working and going to school and making dinner etc. lol.
Thanks for your reply, it is nice to know im not the only one, at the same time I hope we both find something were happy to wake up to!

I too am a social worker. I got two raises this year because our agency told us that lcsw's are in demand in this area and they don't want any of us leaving! I work in community mental health-not exactly known for its high salaries-but I make good money for our rural area-and I like what I do a lot. I am able to work mostly with my preferred clients so that keeps me pretty happy.
