Another Goose Egg

Sweetie's picture

Well, it looks like I am repeating this pattern and fell again today. This time in the garage coming up the stairs into the house. I couldn't get the house alarm turned off on time either, so the alarm company called as well and I explained what happened. My ankle collapsed underneath me, and what few things I had in my hand fell down the steps, my head hit the wall, and my knee and ankles hit the brick steps. I saw birdies again. I had this queer feeling before it started to happen but couldn't control it and have such a headache with another goose egg. Then, I let the dogs out, and had to pick up the puppy and take him out because he can only walk on 3 legs (because of the recent break). He is now about 35 lbs or so, so I walked him from the master bedroom through the kitchen, sunporch patio, down the steps, and outside to leash walk him so he wouldn't try to go too fast. Finished that and called my husband at work who was just wrapping some things up and said he was on his way at 3:30 and he was home by 4:15 p.m.. I don't know if my blood pressure is bottoming out or going through the roof but something isn't right. And my ankles haven't been right since my two separate accidents in the last two years that have virtually screwed both of them up. The right one is by far the worst and basically the orthopedic surgeon told me I was lucky that I could at least walk again. But try and get a job when you are in your forties and have a cane. You can't. No one wants you. I tried to put the cane up so no one will feel sorry for me but my right ankle is swollen like a grapefruit on both sides. The pain is unbearable but if I take pain medication, I am so looped, I can't function at all. I have been doing a lot of thinking about this trying to figure a way to get things going so I can work for myself in a small town. Driving even over 30 minutes in the car is an absolute killer for me.
I am working really hard to bring my puppy around; bathing his foot and basically having to debride it and apply neosporin ointment to the open sores twice daily. It looks so raw. My regular vet is going to take the remaining 2 staples out on Friday afternoon and my husband is going to drive us there. It is a much closer drive-in Louisville, GA about 15 minutes from our home so I may actually make it there without Bullet getting carsick on me. He is looking like a pitiful mess and I am pretty much beside myself about the situation. But I will just keep with it and hope that in another week or so, I will see some hope that the swelling is going down in his toes. It's hard for me to do the debriding twice daily as looking at it nearly makes me sick but I can see how much pain the puppy must be in and he has been so stoic.
Thanks to all who have been standing behind me. I appreciate your strong shoulders.
Regards,
Sweetie

Wow! You had better go get your blood pressure checked out before you do any serious damage!!

Your poor puppy. I am hoping that he starts making improvements by leaps and bounds soon! It sounds like you have your hands full but it will be all worth it when he is up and running around again!!
