New mothers, how do you deal with the transaction between not ever having kids and then all of a sudden having them? How did the younger stepmoms deal with the patience of having to take care of kids?

Ok my youngest baby is about to turn three and the BM family lives 3 hours away. Which means that they always have two parties for both the girls, one here with all their friends and DH family, and one in her old home town. Well BM told DH that this year he was not invited to babys birthday this year, because she said that she didnt want him there. I told DH to screw the BM and that was his child just as much as his. Who comes off thinking that they can tell their chikds father that they can not come to their own childs b-day party!

:? I am a new stepmom to two girls age 4 and 2. I have not been around the girls long, but love them like they were mine, but the girls want to have nothing to do with me and listen to nothing that I say. There father is a softy for his girls and gets on to them, but then laughs when after one gets in trouble and says something "funny" so the girls laugh it off, and laugh him off. The oldest child will go up to strangers talk to them and not listen to him when we calls her back.
