So my DH's step mother is in town, and we took DS to see her. She has never seen him as she lived out of the country up until recently...

OMG...Can I tell you how much I LOVE that woman...! She and DS played and played and played. She doted over him, and kissed and loved his 2 year old face the whole time we were there...

DS is usually a little tentative around people, but they were playing and hugging within 10 minutes...They played so hard, the front desk from the hotel called to tell us to keep it down as they thought we were having a party in the room!

Anyway...It was very refreshing to see her relationship with DH...It reminds me of my relationship with my step mother. They are two very beautiful women who accepted both of us into their lives...

DH's father married his step mother when he was 16, and he didn't spend much time with them, but she was always good to DH. DH says that he was also old enough at the time that stuff from his mom didn't have an effect because he was out of her house that following year when he was 17...So they had the opportunity to forge an honest relationship...

My step mother came into the picture when I was 10ish, and she was ALWAYS good to us. My mother demanded that we treat her well (which we always did), and she never inserted herself AT ALL...She allowed my sister and me to develop a great relationship with her without any issues...NONE...

I'm thankful that DH and I both have great step mothers in our lives. Step mothers are beautiful people...
