OT - SMH
She is brilliant. Incredibly qualified and professional. Makes informed $multimillion decisions nearly instantly, caring, engaging, basically spectacular.
So, why.... smh?
It is nearly 2AM and she has been surfing shoes (flats, wedges, low heeled sandals).... for hours.
Asks my opinion repeatedly , harrumphs, then dives back in. Gets angry and stomps off to bed.
A very good friend of ours is turning 50 and we are commanded to attend the shindig. Outdoors but a cocktail dress/Jacket and tie event on grass. So no heels.
I offered to help in the search. She usually likes things I suggest. Tonight I got "you always send me too many options".
This after she showed me many dozens of options. She probably looked at a couple hundred options.
This friend is the DH of DW's bff/work husband. He is a huge fan of my bride and regularly shares the she would be who he was with if he went that way. DW is a big hit with the gay guys. Our friend introduces her to their gay friends as his dream girl.
Not that any of that matters.... other than she is hyper sensitive to living up to her perspective of what she thinks our very stylish gay BFFs would like.
How does someone this brilliant get wrapped around the axle picking shoes?

Grass. The dreaded cocktail
Grass. The dreaded cocktail party on grass. Wear heels and you could turn your ankle and fall. Wear frumpy shoes and it spoils the look of your outfit. Just let her go Rags. She will find a pair.

I wore strappy sandals with stiletto heels to my BIL's wedding. I hadn't thought the photos would be taken in a park ... on grass, nor that I'd be included in them. I lost 4 inches in height during the photo shoot. I can also tell you that it's nigh on impossible to remove the embedded heels from their prison in an elegant manner.
most women would be over the
most women would be over the moon to buy new shoes and it's a very detailed process. I think. I'm not one of those women. Not because I am non-womany but because I wear a kids size 2.5 - 3 and those shoes usually involve hellp kitty or glitter
Tell her to narrow it down to two. Then ask her which ones she can see herself wearing with the chosen out fit.
Lol.
Lol.
Hello kitty and glitter.
Too funny.
That has to bre a challenge.
DW is an 8 to 8.5. Small for being 5'10"+. Some things can be out of stock, but... usually she can find what she wants. When she digures out what she wants.
And women are judged on their
And women are judged on their fashion choices and physical appearance.
LOL
If I ever did that to Chef, he would throw the laptop out the window.
That being said I am pretty set in my shoe choices and I have a size (7) that is very common so don't have to worry about not finding stock.
That's normal. That's what we
That's normal. That's what we do. I don't see it's a problem and it doesn't contradict being brilliant. You can be brilliant and still spend king time searching for specific shoe. It's ok
"Thank you sisters for having my back!!!"
That is the message from my incredible bride.
I read her all of your comments.
I am so happy to be a gorilla. Tell me what to wear, when to be there, feed me, and let me scracth my junk every once in a while and .... I am all kinds of happy.
Thank you all so much for making me laugh and for having her back.
We both appreciate it.
She wanted me to add some quaifying elements. Formal event, in grass, has to go with the dress, she has to love it, will she wear it again...... and several etc's that fogged out my man brain.
You are all amazing.
Thank you again.
FYI, tell your bride they
FYI, tell your bride they make high heel protectors for this situation. She can find them on Amazon. Might solve her problem.
She has some.
She has a pair she bought to wear during our 20th anniversary vow renewal in her home town. We originally eloped. She wore the heel protectors on some Jimmy Choo jewled heeled sandal-y thingees. I remember the brand because it took a year+ to get the right shoe to go with her beautiful dress.
Our vow renewal was at a beautiful vinyard venue on an amazing manicured lawn. Though the protectors helped, they were not quite wide enough to prevent her heels from sinking into the turf halfway or more. By the time my FIL walked her down the isle, and we made out way into the winery after the ceremony she was hurting from standing on her toes for an hour+.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Do as the royals do
Rags, the Royal women wear wedge heels to outdoor, on grass events, and they look very stylish, Forget the heels, that would just be too difficult and definitely not enjoyable to wear (unless aerating the lawn is her idea of fun). Good luck and have fun shopping!
You actually can wear heels
You actually can wear heels in grass if you purchase those accessories that attach to the heel which keep them
from sinking into the grass (I think it was some shark tank invention I saw can't remember but they do exist if you Google them)
*edit - I just carefully read again and saw where you mentioned the heel protectors didn't work for her particular shoe so I'd recommend to go with classy quality wedges (theyre typically more comfortable than stiletto type heels anyways)
Or wear wedges which have soles like regular shoes but give a height boost / appearance of long leg
Yep, the wedge is the winner.
She already has a pair she likes with the dress she is going to wear.
Thanks for the suggestion of the heal protectors and ... the wedge advice.
I recommend ballet flats
They are right back in fashion. You can get them in any color or style at the moment. And you don't have to worry about sore feet.
