O/T My on the spectrum former #2 reached out yesterday.

Rags's picture

He resigned in early Oct.  The company ran through the senior level of management like a dose of salts through the summer. All but one of the highest compensated leaders (my level) are gone.  They replaced me in Aug, and that individual resigned in Sept.

It is that bad.

Apparently the client decided to remove that level of leadership.

My former #2 wants to do lunch next week.

He and I did reach a decent place with each other the second time he was my #2.

I am still considering a suit for wrongful termination, hostile work environment, and co-employment violations.  My losses are growing to the point where I could be somewhat successful with a lawsuit.

Lunch might provide some interesting information.

Not sure I will accept the lunch invitation. But I am considering it.

I remember one of my first employers (working in a high security juvenile detention center as a therapist) was about as toxic as running an 80's lemon with garage door closed and car windows down

I made reports to HR only to realize HR is NOT on the employees side and never will be.

They tried to have me fired after that but I left before they could.

I wish I could have sued them into oblivion

Hope you get the resolution you're seeking

One where a crook of a Exec Director forced my hand in making a complaint to HR. He was ultimately arrested by the Federal Marshals following an investigation that I in part initiated. Unfortunately, I was RIFd as that all unfolded. I am convinced my inclusion in the RIF was in part due to my complaint against who was the Fair Haired boy of the moment and the imbarrassment to the company that resulted when the investigation uncovered his criminal activity contracting with a consulting firm that he (His wife) owned. He signed those contracts as an Exec Director for the company we worked for at the time.  There were also sexual harrasment elements that resulted in his termination.  Though were not part of his arrest. As I understand it.

The next was when the recently appointed President of the company I then worked for cooked the books, missed the income commitment to the parent company and was given 2yrs to cut $4Mil in overheads when the CEO called him on the crap. He had instructed finance to not pay any bills for the last month of the year because he was going to miss revenue by $4Mil. With the cooking of the books he only missed by $2Mil which was uncovered in Jan. The CEO directed the Pres to claw back the full $4Mil.

So, my VP and all of his directors were released. I was one of 6 directors.

The third is the company I worked for mid year 21 to mid year 23.  They cut everyone at my level on our regional account.  At owner company direction.

I do not know if I will sue and if I do I obviously do not know if I will win.  The advice I have been given is to wait until I have notable financial impact. Which I am getting glose to the $6figure mark of lost income.  I am working with an attorney who thinks there is potential for punative damages as well as compensatory.  I am considering it.

That you experienced that toxic environment is infuriating.  I am glad that is long past for you.

Even if he doens't have any info about the company, he may be looking to you as a trusted advisor and mentor.  I know he had his issues but I suspect that he sees you as one of his better bosses as you gave it too him straight.  I'm guessing he would realy value your input on the next steps of his career.

If you have the time, go for lunch.  You'll be a great mentor.

This is what I was thinking.  He damned near got fired after he moved to a different site. I took him back on very tight conditions.  That he resigned of his own accord does give me some perspective that he has learned something.

I will hit lunch with him.
