Job Update

So my boss called me on Monday to touch base and the good news is that the business is picking back up! The week after the election ended, we have gotten calls about projects that have been on hold that now they are back on track. The bad news is we won't be getting a Christmas bonus this year BUT I much rather have a job than a Christmas bonus. We were on the phone probably a good 30 minutes discussing how things are looking which seems like it is all turning around, but not soon enough for a bonus. Again, rather have the job! Since she can't give a bonus instead of paying us Christmas Eve until New Years Day like we have every year she is giving us December 23 - January 1 paid off and since the 23 is a Monday, I will have 12 consecutive days off for the holidays. So that is pretty awesome although I will probably still take DD even for half days because I want to keep her in the daycare routine. I appreciate her calling me and discussing so now I feel a lot of weight off my shoulders.

Also, I haven't had to communicate with the boss's daughter as much as I am on to other projects so that has made it WAY better too so if it keeps this way, I don't mind it!

You've got what you want for the  immediate future.  After New Years, you can always see how things are panning out and go from there.  Happy holidays!

I'm relieved for you that the owner/boss has reached out to you.

However, remember, businesses  are not loyal to anything but their business results and they are loyal to no one but their customers.  So, only be as loyal as your financial opportunities stipulate.

Polish up your resume and keep your LI profile clean and indicating Open to Work.  That keeps a skitchy boss and company aware that you are not their beck and call girl. Considering that you are the only comprehensive knowledge resource with the software, make sure they know you have them by the short and curlies.  Not overtly, bit noticeably none the less.

IMHO of course.
