It really is pathetic to hear him ask SD if she would like to follow the rules. One rule is daily showers she will try to get out of it most every night. Then he has to ask her is she is ready to take her shower. It's an aggravating point with me because he has such a hard time enforcing rules on her. I mean showers daily no brainier right?? Noooooo it's SD it's almost 8:00 are you ready to take your shower yet?? Or hurry up and take a shower so you can come back out to watch TV before bed. Every night he does this she is 13 almost 14 shouldn't she know to take a freaking shower on her own????

I agree but I think it's also laziness in SD's case. She cares about her appearance but she doesn't want to do the work to achieve a nice appearance.

I remember being a teen of 13 or 14 and not only was it required by the parents, I demanded it of myself. I wanted to always be fresh and smelling pretty. I don't get it either. My SD14 refuses to bathe when she comes over. She has to have all these nice clothes and shoes but will put a funky body in them. DH will tell her to shower and what does she do? Go into bathroom, turn on water, 5 minutes later she's back downstairs fully dressed. REALLY?!?! She must be able to get away with it at home because it never fails and when DH yells at her to get her ass back in the bathroom and bathe, guess what?!? Same deal only a little longer. DH doesn't even notice she uses no towels, doesn't look or smell any different, no steam in the bathroom, nothing...just different clothes...and sometimes not. Or maybe he notices but heaven forbid he get on his princess and tell her she smells like a week old mule! She walks around some times smelling of her cycle and it is the most disgusting smell imaginable next to decomp. What gets me is again, she has on all of these designer clothes, shoes and handbags but smells like an used old sanitary napkin (sorry for being graphic)!! I just do not understand this thing with her. I can almost get a boy doing this and even then it would be unacceptable but a young lady...come on!!

Why is he asking? Boundaries, dude. Is he a Scientologist? LOL! If it's a rule their should be no apologies for enforcing it. Period.

Reading this reminded me of something my 10yo niece said this weekend. Hubby and I took her shopping and gave her money to buy a Christmas gift for my 17yo nephew (her brother).

We came across the gift sets with the deodorant, body wash, etc. She didn't want to get him that at first but then she said, "Well, he does stink." Biggrin (It didn't hurt that she would have money left over for herself)
