THIS WOMAN!

I told DH to put in for leave, that everything has been so screwed up and I can't take it anymore. I need a vacation now.

He said ok and I booked it! Me, DH and the bios for the middle of June! I can't wait!

I freaking needed this!!!

Well if you all can go on a cruise you should be able to give BM all the money she's requesting...

JUST KIDDING!  You guys deserve it, I hope you all have an awesome time!

LOL!

Probably right...

I will say that this one was 1/2 what our last one cost! I couldn't believe we got 8 days, balcony room for $1900 after taxes and port fees!

This will be my 8th I think, It is by far my favorite way to travel and the most affordable! Another bonus is you don't need a passport.

We are leaving from Baltimore, so no flights. Food and most of the activates on board are included. You just pay for booze (there is an unlimited package for that) and shore excursions- so you can plan those costs in advance too.

That's a great deal!  I've been thinking about booking a cruise for a vacation but I'm slightly nervous because of COVID.

We booked ours almost a year out in advance with a special and only 7 nights and spent more! We are going to Alaska though so I don't know if that makes a difference versus if you go somewhere tropical? I have never been on a cruise in my life before either so not sure what is typical

Alaska is one of the most expensive cruises for some reason, I am sure it will be BEAUTIFUL though! We are doing the Caribbean- I have been to 2 out of 3 of the ports already but I don't care. The price and dates were right!

I have heard people say how cheap crusies can be and we got about half off when we booked it and it was still $2,200 just for the trip and room with a window for seven nights and 2 of us. BUT it is our honeymoon so definitely not complaining and we have been dying to go to Alaska.

That's awesome, I am so glad you all are doing a great vacation like that especially after all the nonsense you have been dealing with! DH and I are more cold weather people. Don't get me wrong I love the beach and the ocean, but lately our vacations are cold weather, hiking, layers, etc. haha.

There are more precautions than anywhere else. You have to be fully vaxed and show a neg. test within 3 days prior to boarding. Nothing is 100% but I feel pretty safe.

Just a heads up if this is the case for your cruise line. They just added for our May cruise that even if you are vaccinated you have to have a negative COVID test prior to boarding the ship. You can buy at home tests from the cruise line and do it that way, but when we booked our cruise in August for this May, this wasn't something that was part of the guidelines then.

Have a WONDEFUL time, you all deserve it!

do the test and weed out people who may have COVID before boarding a ship with someone that is sick from COVID!

Thank you Smile I am feeling much better now that we scheduled all the pet care for while we are away!

Yipee

Good for you. There is nothing better than watching the ocean go by.

We had one confirmed during covid, and of course that didn't happen.

Do not allow any hints be given to bm...she will find a way to screw up your vacation.

Nope, not a word to them. In fact if we are asked about summer, we will tell SS that he can come at the end of June after our trip.

The best revenge is a good life served cold.  Time to start planning that good life with no SS in it.  And don't respond back with any crap about the door is always open when he reaches out crap.  I'm am living without 3 skids in my life by their choice and I have to say it's way more peaceful.  It did take DH quite a few years to accept it all but he got there and yours will too.  DH can can open a door for them but I will leave mine locked until they can make amends with their dad in proper , authentic way (no money involved).

I fully agree....living the best life you can is the answer to StepHell!!

Like you, I am living life without DHs kids in my life...4+ years and counting. Until they can make proper amends and show changed behavior, they stay out.

Congrats on the cruise, JustMakingTheBest! Enjoy yourself to the fullest!

We leave tomorrow for our cruise. I don't even care that we're going to ports I have no real interest in. I'm just excited to be on a ship again. I've had 4 full vaccine shots and tested negative last night. Bring. It. ON!

DH loves cruises. He's been on several, but I've only been on one. We went on a European one for our honeymoon (not cheap, but it was our trip of a lifetime and it truly was). We'll likely go on another when DD is a little older and likely go to the Caribbean or Mexico to make it more affordable. It's so nice to be able to travel to different ports without having to move your stuff. The one thing I don't like is that it would be nice to have more time in some of the ports.

I have told DH that once he retires from the military we are going to take 2 weeks and do the mediterranean cruise!

The one big mistake I made early on with traveling with my kids is that I didn't make them spend time in the kids clubs. I wish I would have pushed it but I didn't want them to have a "bad time" on vacation. Now that they are teens they can go to the teen clubs and stuff, so it works out but make sure you take advantage of some alone time with your Mr.!
