Hello, my name is HLIF and I am an...
A-hole.
Disclaimer: No offense meant to those who might take my smart alec-y title as making light of any program or disrespect towards those who participate in such program(s).
Just for fun I wanted to volunteer a bit more generic info on myself - y'know, beyond the outdated profile one liner that intentionally tells you a whole lot of nothing about the a-hole behind the name.
If it wasn't clear by now, I'm long winded. Succinct is not in my exhaustive list of charming qualities so pack a lunch. Browsing that list you will find sarcasm several times, however.

I've never been one to get excited over weddings
...but according to OSS, mommy went to her friend's house one day and mommy's friend asked her to marry him and she said yes.
Oh, and they will probably have to move.
"So I think they're... dating? Is that the right word?"
Fingers crossed its a short engagement (everything else has been at breakneck speed with this one) but I have my doubts. I think logistics (perhaps just reality) will get in the way before common sense or any moral obligation to their respective kids.

BM missed her calling
She should've been a rancher. She has yet again proven herself skilled in the arts of milking her martyrdom and fleecing her community.
Schools closed. Shelter in place. C19 cases rapidly increasing along with the number of deaths. You get the picture.
BM asks SO if he "could use chocolate milk." She has, well, a(n unnecessarily ridiculously) large amount. Date is for this weekend. They are from the school. Y'know, the school that is providing curbside pick up for those in the student body facing food insecurity during the pandemic.

BM carnival games... step right up!
Oh BM. She's like a one man carnival. The questionable kind where all the stereotypes originate from.
The mental gymnastics are astounding. These mental gymnasts bend and flex in ways you never thought the human body capable of. Their unnatural movements are so fluid and seem to come with such ease. Creepy, impressive, fascinating all at the same time.
There's also the two faced lady. She's super scary. Or mindboggling. Maybe a bit humorous. Confusing. Disturbing. Cliche. All of the above.

Ever wonder how BM was an option? How's MIL?
My MIL drives me bonkers. We might be a little lax on the boundaries in my family of origin but the concept of boundaries is more or less nonexistent to MIL. Her extra special brand of matriarch is such a foreign concept to me.
I've kept her at arms length over the years because she rubs me the wrong way but more importantly she made it very clear to me by way of words and actions (that she thought I'd never know about, or probably more accurately never considered I would) essentially declaring me a second class citizen in my own relationship.

It seems I have greatly misjudged the size of that straw
Maybe I need a bigger camel?
I'm stuck feeling some sort of way about BM walking into our house recently. I'm not sure how to process. I don't know if this is a vent, if I'm looking for advice or commiseration. Fair warning, I am long winded. Having said that, I'm going to let 'er rip.
The not so Cliffs Notes:
In this episode of the BM & MIL show SO gets a new pair of shoes!
SO and I have had some "just how blind ARE you?" conversations around MIL & BM faaaaamily antics. They are seemingly constructive conversations but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't wonder if he recognized just how little he truly understands about my position.
And then something beautiful happened. A split second glimpse into what it must feel like to be me.
SO was at some talent show nonsense for the golden child. My drama llama backstabby MIL was there because she has more or less taken on BMs responsibilities up until bedtime. Gross.
HowLongIsForever! Come on down!
I had an interesting conversation with SO today (via text, he is traveling).
