Getting married without SD there
Sorry to post so much about this topic. I guess it's our hot topic at the moment.
We've decided that even if I do go down the retraining route, we can still afford for us to get married next year.
We've gone back and forth between eloping or getting married here. When SO married his ex, he said it was minimal effort and just picked a random registry office for the ceremony as he just didn't care about it. I know - he was an idiot for going ahead with it but I almost did the same with my previous bf as I was in a shit mental state.

Does there become a point where they're too old for you to elope without them?
SO and I were originally planning on eloping next year just the two of us. Now our financial situation has changed as I've decided to retrain. The retraining will take 3 years and then we can start saving up the funds again. By the time we've saved up enough money, SD will be 10.
Do you think there's an age at which it is deemed unacceptable to elope without the SC (or biochild for that matter, it's not specifically because she's a SC).
Giving SD the smallest room - does this sound fair?
We're currently in the process of buying a 4 bedroom house. There's me, SO and then his daughter is with us every other weekend Friday evening to Sunday evening. The reason we're buying a 4 bed house is it was dirt cheap and also we don't want to move in the next 10 years so it gives us room to expand our family.
Our original plan was the put SD in the smallest room. We have the big room with the en suite and then we'll have two spare rooms for now until we have a baby.

SD struggling to sleep at ours
When my stepdaughter first started sleeping overnight at ours, she was a fantastic sleeper. In the last 6 months though, it's all gone downhill. She's almost 6 but has started co-sleeping again at her Mum's. There's not a chance of her co-sleeping at ours nor do we want to stay with her until she falls asleep. We don't know what to do though and are at our wits ends. She will cry and shout "I want mummy" for up to two hours each night. I can't cope! My partner is ill today and I know as soon as I get home from work I'll have to cope with the nightime routine.

Eloping just the two of us
Partner and I will be eloping either next year or the year after with just the two of us, no family or DSD 5. We'll be telling people upon our return. Has anyone else done this? What's the best way of explaining things to SD when we get back?
