he's 10 yrs old. he's been eating a lot since the past few months and have gained a lot of weight in 1 yr. don't know for sure if it's puberty, maybe he is just irritated/frustrated w/his biomom for over control and not being able to decide what he wants to do. thanks for sharing your experiences, i now have an idea on what to expect.

My oldest is 15.5
and is in the midst of puberty and teenage-itis, among other things. Janice spelled most of it out. The biggest changes will be in a need for independence and not wanting to explain himself, wanting more freedom, becoming more obstinate - eye rolling, walking off, wanting to confront you. My son has a medical condition for which we go to clinic every quarter and a doctor's exam will tell you if he is in puberty. Last year sometime my son's physician said he was in full blow puberty. They are called "Tanner's Stages". I think 10 is a little young still, but I don't know all of the perimeters. The excessive eating, in my experiences, comes from growing. Sometimes my younger son barely eats, and then other times he eats like he is starving. You'll notice at the same time an extra interest in girls, movies depicting scenes of a sexual nature, I started finding some photographs on his computer - started out with Brittany Spears links in his favorites and quickly moved past that. Obviously I had them deleted and gave him a talking to, but that's neither here nor there. Look for indpendence, back talk, moodiness, eyes rolling and a big interest in the opposite sex!
