I Missed You STers!

It's been a while since I've posted anything here, so hello again fellow step-talkers! Just need to clear my conscience of a few things, and receive some feedback from all the awesome peeps Smile I started work again a month ago after being on mat leave. It was hard for the first little bit, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things.

As I'm reading through everyone's crazy BM stories, I realized BM hasn't been psychotic in a while. Don't get me wrong, she's always nuts, that's just a given. But nothing outrageous enough to blow peoples' socks off with a nice juicy blog post. Then I realize...Christmas is coming. She must be saving it all up. Does anybody else's BM go bat shit crazy at Christmas or is it just me?? I'm sure I'll have some very entertaining stories for you all very soon! I wanna know...does Christmas bring out the true crazy in all step-lives?

A Million Stupid Questions!

Ughhh help me keep my sanity! SD has recently entered the phase of a million dumb questions. Why is there a girl on this show? Why are your slippers over there? Why are you reading? Why are you cleaning? Why is your hair long? Why are you wearing jeans? Why is your shirt blue? ALL.DAY.LONG. I just want to turn around and yell "SHUT UP" in her face lol but I just stopped answering. Seriously...I'm going nuts here!

DH Puts too Much On BM Apparently

DH and BM got a notice from the school that SD is way behind on her reading skills. Seriously, the poor kid is SOOOO terrible at reading it's sad. So whenever she's here, DH spends hours sitting with her while she reads. It's a painfully long process but bless him for his commitment. So anyway...Tuesday night BM comes to pick SD up and this was their convo (I was in the kitchen listening to this ridiculousness):

Know what really pisses me off?? BM hounded DH for CS before it was even due, and as soon as he paid it, BM and her husband went to Niagara Falls for the weekend. Didn't even bring SD. That money is called CHILD SUPPORT for a reason. And her husband was laid off two months ago, so I guess it's a pretty good idea to go on vacation. We can't even afford a vacation and here they are just using CS like it's luxury money. How do they even get away with that?? She makes me SO mad...I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire. Rant over.

Step-life After having a Bio

Did anyone else's step-dynamic change after you had a bio kid? I used to find it so easy and guiltless to disengage if I was feeling overwhelmed and just wanted to relax. Now that I have BD, I can't exactly piss off to the bedroom whenever I feel like it anymore. It makes those "annoying" moments so much more intolerable. Anybody found a solution for this yet??

Imitating BM

Anybody else have a younger skid who tries to act like a grown-up to be "cool"? It grates on my nerves so much...I know it's normal behaviour for kids to imitate older role models in their lives, but SD6 acts like her complaining mother which is uber annoying. A couple of examples:

I told SD she needed to go outside and play. She says to me (like it's an option) "I'm just gonna stay inside. I'm pretty tired, I haven't been sleeping well lately." Totally her mother...kid, you're 6.
