Odd Question
So just thought I'd share this for more of a laugh. SD came to visit and the one day she asks me in front of DH and my daughter..."So do you own your home or rent it?" lol ... now what 9 year old would even ask someone that...I told DH that must have been a provoked question from BM ... he says ya probably ...SMH some people are so nosy and odd...

that's something I would have answered with a question.
"That's an odd question, why would you want to know?"
right, I think I was
right, I think I was completely caught off guard I just answered the question and later was like how weird for such a young child to ask that
Gross.
These types of questions always originate from a place of GUBM greed. Either you're too rich and should be paying more CS, or she's hoping you die intestate and leave SD (aka BM) your property.
We always refuse to answer these questions.
lol funny thing is DH and I
lol funny thing is DH and I aren't married yet, and it is my house not his ...quite yet but before we are married I plan to make sure legal documents are prepared for that reason
For sure!
BM trying to pry into SM's business/ financial status.
The three ferals would constantly ask none-of-their-business questions as well. Mommy's little spy/spies.
Sounds Familiar
When I first met DHs kids, they thought I lived in the BIG house at the beginning of our subdivision. Boy, were they surprised when they arrived at my modest home down the road. LOL And of course, always came with questions about what I owned, what it cost, and God forbid there was something new in our home on their next visit. Where did it come from? Who bought it? Etc. Their BM was the queen of nosey.
We told the kids my dad
We told the kids my dad gifted us things.. vs letting BM know I earned the money to buy things.. made it easier
"You can tell your mom we
"You can tell your mom we paid $2,000,000 for this home."
HAHA right ..
HAHA right ..
"pssst... don't tell anyone
"pssst... don't tell anyone but we made it out of candy..just stay away from the oven"
looool I knew I would get
looool I knew I would get some good laughs out of this post
It may not be a question FROM
It may not be a question FROM BM but might have been prompted by her. Like, if BM rents and has been talking about buying a house, that could have made SD wonder if you owned or rented.
Or someone at school said something, or a random ad she encountered sparked the question, or she had a random thought because kids get weird thoughts from time to time.
I don't think it's odd for kids to wonder about the living arrangements of their parents. I also don't think it needs a snarky response. If you deliver a matter-of-fact response, it will both satisfy her curiosity while also being such a boring answer that she may not feel the need to do anything with the information.
Plus, if BM really is behind it and wanted to figure it out, it's not hard to find out who owns a specific property. Zillow/Red Fin and county tax records will give a full history of ownership.
"The bank
Owns the house. Once a month we go to the drive thru at the bank for it's visitation."
