That's Lunch Folks!

I love DW with all my heart. She’s a good woman to me and a wonderful mother to our two bios.

But for the life of me, I do not understand why, when it comes to SS, I feel there is an inhibitor switch in her brain that blocks off all logic and common sense that we would attribute to good parenting.

Yesterday was a perfect example of this.

Spelling is Hard.....

A quickie but a goody

This convo occured just last night while we were all having dinner (me, DW, SS, with BS and BD).

DW: "The kids are eating really well! Let's say after they finish eating we treat them to some (spelling) I. C. E....C. R. E. A. M."

Me: "Sounds good to me."

SS: "What are we having after Mom?"

DW: "I. C. E....C. R. E. A. M..."

SS: *blink* *blink* "What is Icky Kram?"

You can't make this stuff up folks....

OT - Annoying emails (Follow up to Eff off Fridays)

What follows is what my inbox gets flooded with in a typical week. What is in italics is what I wish I could write back.

“The owner of a Toyota Corolla, License plate 564YR6. Your lights are on”
“Someone left a Blackberry in the second floor washroom.”
“Anybody seen a Fed Ex Package addressed to Mr. Smith?”

Okay, I understand the concept of trying to do a good deed, but you would think my company is populated by people who forget to put on clothes in the morning.

SS loses face

Note: What I am about to write here I already shared with my cubicle mates at work. To say their sides were splitting with laughter puts it mildly. Manager had to come by to tell us to keep it down as we were disturbing the other workers.

So after last nights episode of “I can’t sleep because I needs my precious electronics”. DW got a bottle of Melatonin. She showed it to SS.

SS Feaked out.

“I don’t wanna take medicine!” He yells.

Big drama ensues. Lots of whining and tears streaming down his face.

DW stuck to her guns.

Fun with waking up SS

So we took all the e-pacifiers away.

I swear, it felt like frisking Thorin and company for weapons.

“Yes SS, hand over the PS3 controllers too. And your cell phone. And your iPod....”

I placed everything in a large tuperware container and placed it in the basement. This is better than placing it under lock and key because SS is still scared of walking down there in the dark.

DW had her cross-fit session this evening so she was pretty tired. She layed down with BD but fell asleep with her. I am lying in bed just checking out some stuff on ebay.

Need to reset SS waterworks meter....So how was your weekend?

Drac0's picture

SS was with us on the weekend.

SS has exams next week. We checked the class websites and all the teachers have been very forthcoming with study guides and how much time each student needs to devote to going over notes/preparing for the tests.

DW and I went over them.

It’s pretty obvious that SS needs to study on the weekend.

I knew he wouldn’t. I knew I was going to get angry and stress out about it. So I talked to DW on Friday night over a glass of wine with both of us relaxed and I told her my thoughts.

SS and I get busted by the cops!

My grandmother has an oil-burning furnace. The oil intake is under her porch which has a trellis gate blocking it. The oil delivery guy couldn’t open it because of all the snow and ice.

My grandmother calls me in a bit of a panic. She usually calls my Dad but my Dad couldn’t be reached so she calls me. I tell her I’ll have a look at it on the weekend. Oh no, this has to be done now, now, NOW, according to my grandmother.

*groan*

SS confesses. He tried alcohol.

So DW took SS to the doctor.

Doctor couldn’t find anything wrong with him at first but did notice that his BP drops when he stood up (Oh the jokes I can make with this!!!). Doctor was firm with SS and asked him to come clean and be honest.

“SS, are you taking anything? Drugs? Alcohol?”

SS said no. Doctor warned SS that she is ordering blood and urine tests and that if SS has taken anything it will come up in the test results.

SS admitted that he and a friend were at his friend’s house and tried some Vodka. When DW told me this, I could not help but laugh.

Thanks DW. That's the last time I open up to you about work.

I had a bad day at work yesterday. I got into a tiff with one of the managers here. Nothing major; very typical. “Hey Drac0! I know you were off for three weeks over the Christmas break but how come this work that was assigned to you not done!?!?”. It put a damper on my mood but in my line of business, you have to have the same work ethic as Captain Malcolm Reynolds sometimes. In other words, I don’t care what insults you hurl at me. I do a job. I get paid. End of story.

Not the first time it has happened and I know it won't be the last.

First Post of the New Year

Been absent from ST for a bit due to some unfortunate circumstances. For starters my car broke down and had to be taken to the shop. It took the mechanics forever to figure out what the problem was so I had to use DW’s car all week which meant I had to provide taxi service for everyone including one of DW’s friends who has MS (Multiple Sclerosis). I’ll talk about him in a minute.
