An unexpected turn of events.
There was a big blow up in the Drac0 household last night.
On top of SS giving us attitude and refusing to go to the awards ceremony, yesterday SS informs us that he has a super complicated science project that is due tomorrow (meaning today). Naturally he informs us of this at about 10 minutes before his bedtime. This project requires materials from stores that are now closed.
And WHYYYYYY did he inform us of this at the last minute?
“I forgot.”
Now I do know of a place that is open late and was ready to pull SS's ass out of the fire.
But I was certainly not going to make this easy on him.
“Could you go and get the materials he needs then?” DW asks me.
“No!” I stated quite firmly and purposely acting childish. “I don’t want to!”
I then proceeded to put on my favorite xbox game and started playing. DW and SS looked at me and were stunned. It didn’t take long for DW to figure out what I was doing.
It took SS a little longer.
SS capitulated. He is now going to the awards ceremony this evening. That was the price he had to pay for making me go to the store so late.
But now SS is crying over the fact that his father already made other plans for this evening and won’t be attending.
Tough break kid. Maybe now you will stop acting like a jerk and do what your parents ask of you.

But there is a consequence.
But there is a consequence. SS was really adamant about not going to this awards ceremony. He was really being a jerk about it too. The only reason I went to the store last night was by getting SS agree to go to this awards thing tonight.
Whether SS is deserving of the recognition and respect that this award infers...is another story.
I really don't understand
I really don't understand why, what was the reason to do this. :?
See my previous blog entries.

I've been reading your blogs
I've been reading your blogs about the award your SS is receiving.
I just don't understand why were you so adamant that he goes, or why were you so angry at him for not wanting to go - isn't the important part that he earned an award? Receiving it, I'd say, matters less, and is not a reason to get angry if he earned it. The fact he earned it is very good, it should be congratulated in your home even if he decides not to go.I just don't see a reason to make him, or even want to make him go if he doesn't to. It's not that important that he takes the award as it is that he earns it and does something to earn it.
I love it! "I don't wanna!"

I once called a load of
I once called a load of completely random strangers over in the street when one of my SD's started having a tantrum. I literally said, very loudly, "Please come and watch xxx, aged 9, throw a tantrum. She is very cross because she's not getting her own way, and would like everyone to know about it". She had NOT expected me to react like that, it was totally outside of the reactions she had previously experienced to her tantrums, and she was old enough that she nearly died of embarrassment. She shut up real quick and I then carried on "Please xxx, you have all these people watching you. Don't stop now, we would all like to see your tantrum".
Funnily enough she never tried it with me again }:)
I am still scratching my
I am still scratching my head. The award was for having an average of 90% for the the entirety of the 2012-2013 academic year. SS DID NOT have that average. His highest mark was phys ed and that was 88%. Everything else was 70% and below. So there must be a mistake somehwere. Either the report cards we were receiving were faulty OR SS was supposed to get an award for something else OR the award was given to SS by mistake. Even SS was scrathing his head.
