My Father's Day Gift is a little late....But I like it!

So now that school is out, we gave SS a bunch of chores to do. Nothing super complicated, but DW and I expect them to be done.

One of the chores is to walk the dog and pick up after it should it decide to do it’s business.

The pattern is always the same with SS.

Day 1: Does the tasks appointed to him without any prompting.
Day 2: Does the task but only being reminded of them.
Day 3: Tries to get out of the task somehow.

Well yesterday was Day 3, and sure enough, SS didn’t want to do any of the chores appointed to him. After we finished supper, I asked SS if the dog had been walked. He said no. I told him that right after he brings the dishes to the sink, he is to walk the dog.

“But it’s raining!” SS whines.

“Are you made of sugar?” I ask. “We told you that the dog is to be walked; rain, hail or shine! It was bright and sunny all day today and you could have walked the dog earlier but you didn’t. So go walk the dog and bring an umbrella.”

SS put the dishes in the sink and then went to his room and closed the door (I assumed to change).

When he didn’t emerge within 15 minutes, I courtesy knocked on the door and opened it to find SS lying in bed.

“Oh DW!”

DW came and saw what I saw and she immediately went into action, telling him to get up and walk the dog RIGHT NOW.

“But I’m tired, I don’t feel good, I think I ate too much…” SS whimpered.

DW wouldn’t hear any of it. She actually threatened to physically man-handle him.

Reset water-works meter

I was really proud of DW for setting him straight. My Father’s Day present came a little late, but I’ll take it!

Kudos to your wife!

My SSons were sitting on their asses Father's Day waiting for DH to serve them (my DH does the cooking at our house). I ended up yelling at them to get up and help their dad and I got the "look of shock" and tears from SS12. So sick of the water works.
