ot facebook mothers love message
so i saw this message on a friend of mine on facebook - my response was "not for me - i'm only a stepmom"!
here's the original message:
Mothers think about their children day and night, even when they are grown. Mothers love their children in a way that they will never understand. Mothers will be there for their children when no one else will. Mothers would take a bullet, stand in front of a train & ask God to take them instead of their child. If you have a child or children that you love as much as I love mine, post this as your status.

Sounds sweet and all. SD13
Sounds sweet and all. SD13 (she was 11 at the time, and it was a few months after the BM was separated from DH) and her BM were out hiking one day with a group. When they all got back to their vehicles, everyone was standing around talking. Suddenly, there was a car accident happening. There was an out of control car headed straight for BM and SD.
I've seen and felt natural mothering instinct in action. When I was 9 and in a car accident with my mother, she threw her arm in front of me, most likely preventing me from going through the windshield. When I was 15 and worked in a restaurant with my mom and a robber pointed a gun at us, I hit the floor and felt her body cover mine immediately-she wanted the bullet to hit her instead of me if we were shot. When a stray dog was loose in our neighborhood, I ran outside without thinking, and got between the growling dog and my child. When my son ran into the parking lot at the grocery store, I ran to grab him, and instinctively stepped between him and the car so that the vehicle, if it did hit, would hit me first and lessen the impact on him. There are just instances where you feel your parental instincts kick in.
BM and SD told DH the same thing... BM ran one way, and SD ran the other way. It wasn't that BM pushed SD down out of the way, or thought to protect her daughter first. No, her first instinct was to save her own ass. The car ended up going in BM's direction. It was only a tree that saved her.
We have cursed that tree for about 2 years now.
You are right. We protect
You are right. We protect the ones we love most. It's just that many of these 'golden uteruses' just love themselves more than anyone else. Our BM certainly proved that. Damn that tree.
