BM gets her plates confiscated

ChiefGrownup's picture

She had the kids and starts texting dh can he take ss13 in to get his glasses repaired, they just broke. DH is a bit annoyed because he's already taking sd15 in to the orthodontist, can't BM take care of ANYTHING when it's her days? So she sheepishly texts back that she got her plates confiscated from her car and spun a story that it wasn't fair because she still had five days to pay. (So, of course, she can't drive her car right now)

Dh and I look at each other? Pay what? We know for damn sure cops don't take a plate off that is not already out of compliance in some way. But bm insists it wasn't her fault. It never is.

Day 2 the story has morphed into "he took it because he 'miskeyed' the VIN/plate number/magic formula and it came up a criminal. Not me."

But sd15 is at our house now and saying something about her mother's tags being expired. Believe me, sd has no idea what car tags are unless she was told something by her mom. Meanwhile, dh and I are saying to each other, criminals get arrested and their vehicles impounded, they don't get sent on their merry way missing a lil ole plate.

In. Other. News.
BM bought sd15 a brand new upgraded smartphone this week. I can't tell you if it's the i6 or something else because I don't care enough to find out. And BM bought for herself a new tablet or something along the lines. She already had one, it's just newer and shinier. There may or not be another major purchase along those lines, I wasn't listening that closely because, again, I don't care, but it seems like there were 3.

So, Gong Show players, is the missing plate all the Dumb Cop's Phantom Criminal fault or is it BM Spent the Insurance & Registration Money on Shiny Electronic Toys fault? Who gets the gong, STers?

Oh. Extra gong for the fact that SD15 is failing 3 classes but mommy rewards her with the fancy new phone. For breathing, apparently.

Hahaha! That helps a lot! We were trying to figure out exactly what she had to do to get her plates confiscated. This sounds just about right.

She will undoubtedly beg her grieving dad to pay the insurance and the fine now seeing's how she's poor cuz my saint of a dh 'abandoned' her 7 years ago, never mentioning how she spent big bucks for the new toys (undoubtedly with dh's generous child support check).

broken.lost, that is really awful that the man got reduced custody over his own children because of his wife! What a horror story! Wonder how long that marriage will last. Sheesh.

Yes, in our case, bm's own son is the autistic boy who would have been riding around in the uninsured car for however long not to mention the never-shuts-up (distract the driver) Teen Queen as well. And car-poolers to her job! I kinda think one of the car poolers might have turned her in. We have a vague idea the plate was removed in the parking lot while she was at work. But she could have been pulled over, too. Not sure.

This must have been the reason she couldn't apply the ringworm medication. Too busy contemplating the many ways to spend money that should go to insurance and calculating how much she can get out of her dad this time.

BM got her license taken away for driving without insurance but it WASN'T HER FAULT.

Haha, this was my SD. After her husband left and divorced her, she had no clue that he would not keep renewing her car insurance. I guess she thought things would just go on as if they were still together; he would just be screwing somebody else and living elsewhere but still paying her bills.

heriam, that is certainly what our bm thought. She would leave her marriage but he would still pay for everything, fix everything, listen to her endlessly. She just wouldn't have to live with him any more. As they say around here, that dog don't hunt.

When I first saw your headline I thought BM had lost her porcelain collection:-)

Porcelain or not she seems unable to handle life. Life is just too much for her. She is a delicate blossom and requires protection and support.
Waif in distress.... Yuck!

What really gets my blood boiling is that these women who cry poverty all the time never lack money for the status symbols that make them feel better about themselves. When I met DH in 2008 he had a half broken flip phone of the cheapest variety, must have cost all of ten bucks. It was in sharp contrast to his children's devices. When I met the skids YSD who was probably 15 had the latest model iPhone which quickly became even a more sophisticated model as soon as that next model came out. It made no sense to me - dad is drowning in debt, kid is sporting the most recent gadget. At the time BM was getting close to 40k a year in alimony and CS and constantly demanding more and screeching that DH was a bad father if he did not want to pay for extras. She denied herself and her ego extensions nothing.

This picture meshed so badly with my values that foolishly I tried to block it out of my mind until reminders would reawaken it. "Mom took me to see a Broadway show and it was the most expensive Broadway show playing right now! Mom bought me chocolates from the most expensive store in town." Mommy must feel like such a piece of shit if she needs all those crutches to obfuscate a few very obvious facts. As you said, newer, shinier... Because we deserve nothing but the best. Turns my stomach.
