Update on Bridesmaid Dress Shopping

CBCharlotte's picture

I forgot to say how it went, in case anyone was wondering.

SD15 and SD11 had a great time! They were both supportive and complimentary of each other. They both found dresses that they loved, and I agreed. We ordered them and they came in. We all picked them up and they tried them on for their dad, and he loved them as well. Both girls lit up when they tried them on, and seem genuinely happy. They still seem excited for the wedding and want to be involved. They are both crafty and have been on pinterest looking for things to make and help with.

Spring break has started, so yesterday I took SD15, SD11, and their friend (15) to the mall for a bit. It is nice that they like to spend time with me, even at 15. They don't make me go somewhere else, they like to shop. They ask my opinion on clothes, etc. We went into Lush (soap store) and they were like "OMG CBCharlotte you have to smell this! Look at this one! I have this it is so cool!"

The best part is they each bring their wallets and don't expect (or even ask) me to buy things for them. I will once in a while, but they are actually appreciative. Sure, they have their idiosyncrasies that annoy me, but for the most part they are really good kids who I enjoy spending time with.

I do feel very deeply for the other SMs on here who aren't so lucky. I wish I could give you a hug and lend you my skids for the day!

I'm happy for you that you get along with your skids but you dont need to lend them to me Smile I have my own bio and that is enough Smile LOL

That sounds really really nice. My ex SO and I broke up a while ago and things have since become heartbreakingly ugly and his behavior has gotten a little bit scary. As a result I'm not able to see his girls anymore. It breaks my heart every day. Like you I completely lucked out in the skids lottery and I miss those girls every second. Thanks to this site I learned early on to not try and be their mom and as a result we developed truly unique, genuine and loving friendships.

Cherish them and have fun Smile
