We are supposed to leave tomorrow morning to take SDs out of state to visit SO's dad. Unfortunately, my "baby" (8yo dog) has been very sick the last week and is just not getting better. I cannot leave her with someone and need to take her back to the vet to get checked out. I have earned points through my travel company to get a free plane ticket and since I can't exchange or get a refund for the ticket his dad purchased, I said I'd use my points and take a later flight and try to coordinate a return flight so we arrive home around the same time. (This assuming I can actually leave the dog with someone after finding out what's wrong with her)

Last night, SD12 calls SO to find out what time he's going to pick them up today and he informs her what's going on with the dog, I won't be flying out tommorow and will join them in a few days if I can. He told me she was upset I wasn't going with them tomorrow and really worried about the dog, asking if she was going to have to be put down.

After all the times I feel insignificant, etc. it was certainly nice to hear she wanted me on the trip and was genuinely concerned about my dog!
