OT - Completed my first 5K!

BettyRay's picture

Last night DH and I competed in a 5K for charity.

My time was 30min.17sec.

DH's was 33min.

I just wanted give a thank you and a shout-out to Katrinkie2 - she helped me to beleive I could do it. A 5K is nothing compared to the races she competes in, but for me this is huge.

I started running a couple of years ago to relieve stress when the skids were around - who knew it would lead to this Smile

Oh BTW - DH only did the run so I wouldn't show him up. He's been practicing like crazy the last couple weeks and his morning he started his day with Advil. }:)

Yeah for you! I did my first 5K last August at 41 years old. It was hotter than hell, and I thought I was going to die, but I did it, my time was 38 minutes. 6 weeks later I ran another one and my time was 29 minutes! I was so freaking proud of myself and hooked! The last race I ran was in February and it was 8 degrees at start time... EEK!

I just registered to run the August 5K again (that was my first race last year) AND talked my mom into doing the 3K with my BS3. I am so freaking excited and can't even wait!

Not sure if you are in the U.S. or not, but I really want to do the Color Run and a Dirty Girl.. probably next year.

Congrats on your first race!!!!

I've always wanted to do a 5k. I used to love to run 10 years ago, but haven't since having kids. I have looked into couch to 5k but I just need some motivation!

Yay for you! I love to run, it is the only time I get to be alone and think. It has saved my sanity many, many times. Enjoy your 5k, and soon you will be doing a 10k and so on and so on. It can get addictive, I promise!

I am training for the Las Vegas marathon in November, it will be my 6th and I cannot wait. My girlfriends and I are doing it and then turning it into a fun mini-vacation. Another great benefit of running is traveling to cool places.

Enjoy!

Congrats! I ran my first Half marathon last year. I trained in a month! Have no idea how I did it! I considered myself a non-runner never being able to run a full mile! Somehow I made it.

Round2, I ran Rock N Roll in Vegas.. I'm hoping to be able to do it this year. But of course I'll start training months before.

WOW! That's awesome! Smile I wish I liked to run, but I don't. I have to log 50 miles for black belt testing, and it's like being in Hell!
