This Makes Me Giggle
At the end of skids last visit, DH turns to me and says, "I'm exhausted. I had to cook breakfast AND clean the kitchen. Then I made lunch AND cleaned the kitchen, then dinner and had to clean the kitchen AGAIN!"
Sweet, sweet disengagement.

Easter Bunny
SD16 and SS12 are aware there is no such thing as the Easter bunny. I have been the "bunny" for the past several years, but I checked out of their lives after suffering their atrocities over Thanksgiving weekend. There is no more cooking, cleaning, laundry, band-aids, you name it - its all DH's responsibility. So, I am NOT going to be the bunny this year. DH gets offended when I remind him of my limits. Question is, do I remind him in case there is something he'd like to do, or wait until the little monsters remind him the night before?

Thanks BM!
Thanks for sending your kid over sick, again...at least its just a cold, way better than the RING WORM you sent over a few months ago.

Fake Smile
I'm still at my office, dreading the skids first day at our home for the holiday. Ugh. I've had 16 pieces of chocolate and I am currently working on a smile. No matter how much I try, it still just looks fake. 48 hours of the little darlings. Good luck to all of us!!

Miracle Cure for Bad Table Manners
Tried this over the weekend and it worked. SS10 was told that he must use good manners, utensils, napkins, the whole nine yards WITHOUT being reminded - OR - no dessert! Imagine everyone's surprise when he ate like the perfect little gentleman. DH agreed to this, I had the pleasure of announcing it to the little darling and now DH finally understands the power of consequences. Woo hoo!

When do they stop eating like pigs?
SS10 eats like a pig. Skewers food on his fork, mass quantities of it and then proceeds to eat it like a corndog on a stick. He has no knowledge of proper use of utensils. NONE. He has to be reminded at EVERY bite how to do it correctly. EVERY SINGLE BITE. I refuse to take the pig to a restaurant. I'm going to fake an upset stomach tonight to get out of eating at the table with the disgusting pig! Dogs are easier to train.

Please and Thank You
I have no idea how this happened but we had SD13 and SS10 this weekend and there were Please and Thank You's flying out of their mouths left and right. They picked up after themselves, asked if they could help in the kitchen, and only had to be told once to do/not do things. I think my DH picked up the wrong kids.
I have mostly disengaged, didn't attend sporting events, don't respond to text messages (I let DH do it) and let DH do all the arranging of schedules, cooking, cleaning and discipline when they are here. Even DH didn't lose his temper and both skids gave me hugs.

Stepmother or Father's Wife
I don't want to be called stepmother. Afterall, I'm not anyone's mother. Why can't they just refer to me as their dad's wife?
And why does my DH keep referring to his children as "the children" as in, "we are going to have the children this weekend." Ummm, we aren't going to have "the" children, we are going to have "your" children.
Can you tell that I am oh so excited for this upcoming weekend! I managed to get completely out of attending sports!! Woo Hoo! Unfortunately, "his" children will be coming home with him afterward. Oh joy!

Attending Skids' Sporting Events
The last time we had the skids they were intolerable brats, and my DH was well aware that I was completely over them and couldn't take them for one more minute.
They are both having sporting events next weekend and I have no interest in attending, not because they are brats, but because I really, really, really, don't like it. Seriously, I would rather have a tooth pulled without novocain than attend a sporting event, any event, not just the bratty skids. BTW this would be 7+ hours of sports/driving.

You're Not Fooling Anyone BM!
BM had SD13 call daddy to say that she wanted to come this weekend, because she misses the dog...
Then SD13 decided that she changed her mind and will be with her friends this weekend. Apparently the dog is not missed that much.
BM informs DH that even though SD13 doesn't want to come, SS9 does.
Hey, BM, we're not stupid. We know you are going out of town and your brats don't want to stay with your mother, so you are trying to send them to our house. Not happening! Its NOT our weekend!
I can't stop laughing!
