Skid function, with BM attendance

So, summation of situation:

2 SDs (11, 15) live with BM
1 SS (20) lives with me and DH

In the immediate future, DH and I will be attending a school event for SD. We live in another state, so attendance at these events is fairly sporadic, and this is a big deal for us to go. Lately, BM has gotten a bit crazier and crazier with her demands and attempts to agitate DH (she flat out admitted her behavior is often to get a reaction from him, and make his life horrible.)

Here's the point. I am uncomfortable attending this event, because I have a very strong feeling she is going to start trouble. I feel even MORE uncomfortable not going though-because then I know her smug a$$ will feel like she won. Most importantly, I don't want to disappoint Skid, who has been involved in this project for month, and deserves to be the center of attention.

What do you all recommend?

I would go! Maybe just you being there will antagonize her enough to cause a scene. Yes, it might be uncomfortable for you and skid, but BM is the only one who will look like an ass. Just smile, ignore her, take the high road, be the better person. I would say who gives a crap if BM acts like a lunitic... why should her lunacy have any bearing on what YOU want to do?

Who knows? Maybe she'll be on her most angelic behavior and everything will be fine!
