Darn teens

Ok, so I thank heavens I have one good golden child...my youngest son 16 has ALWAYS been a great kid. I've raised them both the same-but my oldest obviously has some depression/anger issues he's dealing with (the wrong way).

SD was always a hell of a child and teen, though she has calmed down some now since she has a boyfriend. Except for last night.

DH was sleeping and his phone was ringing and it was from sd's phone so I answered, it was a cop on the other line. SD and her BF and other teens (all around 17-19yrs) were caught having a party, somebody called in a complaint of underage drinking. Now, they ALL lucked out (because the kid that lives in the house, his dad is a cop for a different county) nobody got arrested but they called all the parents of the kids to go pick them up. The cop was sure SD was 'on' something besides drinking (though on the phone she sounded fine to me)- she gave the cop lip and they had her in handcuffs for a while. SD has always had NO respect for authority, parents, adults, teachers, therapists, etc....so didn't expect different. For once I wish she would suffer further consequences for her fat mouth.

DH woke up with a migraine almost and had to go get her -30 min each way. Should be an interesting Thanksgiving for us all - lord help me I'd love to ship them all off to do mission work in Africa until they're 21.

DH likes to threaten to send them to the military academy down the way... Boarding school with STRICT discipline. I don't think my Skids are THAT bad, lol. But might do your SD some good. lmao.

She is going to suffer other consequences eventually.. She may have lucked out so far, but whether it's becoming an addict later and getting caught, or getting tipsy at the wrong location or time, eventually something more than calling the parents will happen... Particularly when she's an adult... (at least I really like to believe this... lol)

This is the kind of "cop discretion" which annoys me. Because the disturbance and under age drinking happens on the property of another cop, its ok to let it slide.

Its ok for the law to be broken and a different citizen's complaint to be treated in the "buddy back slap cop system" of covering for each other. No wonder people think poorly of cops when they are more interested in protecting their cop buddies on whose property the law is actually broken than doing their job which enforcing the law. I hope the person who complained escalates this further.

The person who complained was actually another teen who was at the party and left over issues of a girl. I guess he made it seem like a neighbor though I guess.

I get what you're saying about cop discretion- because honestly in a case like that I would love for them to treat ALL kids like they did them, give parents a chance to come get them, break it up. Kids will do stupid things- I don't think they deserve to be put in jail and give them a lifetime record over these things though.

Back in the day, the way the cops handled this was the NORM....nowadays only FEW (like because he's a cop kid) get that discretion...others are treated like down right animals/criminals and I honestly do not agree with that at all.
