It's gift-giving time again. Sigh ...

SD22 is graduating college. Skids have everything, and if truth be told they have more assets than I do! I have never wanted to give them money as it's impersonal and figure they really don't need my hard-earned cash. I must say the gifts I have given (which I try to put thought into and do enjoy giving) are always received with politeness and are sometimes used - so I'm not always off the mark. But I'm getting stumped the older they get. What do you get for the Skid that has everything - including car, electronics, jewelry, money, clothes, vacations, luggage, furniture, household goods, etc.? Any novel suggestions out there? :?

I second SAP. I've started giving gifts of experiences instead of stuff.

Living social is a great source for good bargains on neat experiences in your area.

Great idea! (Although she already goes to the salon/spa anytime she wants it and not long ago she spent hundreds on tickets for her friends to all go to a concert!)

I'll have to think up something similar - maybe some sort of experience would be good - like a hot-air balloon ride etc.

Augusta, LOL! That's a two-fer gift - one is the parachute experience, the second is the resulting "art" on the ground!

And although the photo experience is a good suggestion, been there, done that. Got her a beautiful photo of herself done up on a canvas - and it wound up on her mother's wall. Sad

Experiences I've had through Living Social or Groupon:

Wine tasting, historic tours, ghost tours, horse & carriage rides, as well as mani-pedis.

I have waiting in the wings a white water rafting trip, a float trip on a local river (on tubes), a massage.

I've seen art classes, horseback riding lessons, colon cleanses, ceramic classes, fitness classes, dance lessons...

Colon cleanse- the perfect gift for the SD who has everything.....

I just realized how brilliant that idea is!

OH, a colon cleanse.... the gift that keeps on giving....

That's what you should get her. A gift certificate for a colon cleanse at a poshy spa place. That would be an experience for sure! Biggrin

Hmmm... now we're getting somewhere, Lilybelle. A colon cleanse, followed by a horseback riding lesson and finished up with a dance class. Gives new meaning to the two-step Tango!

To tell you the truth, when I graduated many eons ago, all i wanted was a bottle of Vodka and some condoms lol. Bad I know, but I was just a kid. :jawdrop:

Augusta, Young - both good ideas, and ones I've already tried! Done the magazine thing before and didn't get much response. (And I'm last century, too Augusta)
Although I didn't buy the booze, for her 21st I got her mixings and some cute bar gear so she could have a proper cocktail - hopefully the message being to drink responsibly (not just guzzle) and do it at home. I do know there is plenty of drinking going on at her place, but don't know if she ever used the stuff I got her. This is why I'm stumped ...

I've gotten people beautiful, nice pens for graduation. It's classy and most people like them, looks nice for job interviews.

Yes, I did this for my brother when he graduated border patrol training. He loved it.

When they turned 18 I quit although I'll admit that most of mine missed the mark unlike you. Except college graduation when I loaned her a car for one year to get started.

Jenna may have put me on track for something ... a nice pen or maybe business card case! Thanks for the input, all!
