BM doesn't have a job
BM and DH do not exchange any formal child support and haven't for a very long time. They do however try to split things (sports and extracurricular activities) 50/50 and usually succeed to our pestering (she takes months to pay us back while we are always on time). In the past two years she was unemployed, then had a job for 9 months, then was unemployed again, and has now had this new job for 4.5 months. Maybe 4.5, because today SS7 told us that his mom doesn't have a job anymore. So if she hasn't been working since the last time she had him it has been about two weeks since she has been jobless, since we trade week to week.
Is it any of our business whether or not she has a job?
Around February of this year we were on the conversation of insurance and she didn't want us to put him on ours because she didn't want to split it. She said she KNEW hers at work was good and she would add him on hers. Then she left that job. Was unemployed. Then got a new job and promised she would add him once she had been there for 30 days. She has been there well over thirty days and he still has medical. We would like to add him this year since obviously she is not a reliable source of health insurance.
She also was all for telling us that she was applying to become a foster parent for her nephew and ALL the details (which I appreciate since it does affect SS7), but not once mentioned not having a job anymore.
Oh man, I wish we could keep
Oh man, I wish we could keep track of all the money she has never paid. She always acts like she had to do so much for him in his first few years of life (I wasn't involved then). When we asked her to split insurance she said she paid for his medical forever and never asked for any help. I feel like that is in the past and thats her problem that she never asked for help. I know DH would have helped had she asked.
Actually he was on her
Actually he was on her insurance a long time ago and she lost her job and we gave her a few months to apply for medical but she never told us that she was applying for him to get medical. So we did it for him, and she lost HER medical coverage because we put him in our house. She was very upset but its not my fault she waited three months to get her child insurance, we were doing what was best for him.
As far as I know, she doesn't have insurance... but could be eligible now that she is unemployed again.
*Im not sure what state your in but I think medical is similar to medicaid, maybe CA's version?
Oh gotcha!
Oh gotcha!
I totally agree, in the end
I totally agree, in the end the child's health is more important and we always just suck it up.
She couldn't afford the dentist we were taking him to so she asked us to switch to one that the state pays for and it was SO GHETTO. We decided that we would rather just pay for it completely ourselves than go back to a crap dentist.
