GAL Report just in...
Forums:
Well, the GAL just sent in her report and it is not favorable for us. Looks like we have a difficult court battle ahead. Anyone have any luck overcoming the GAL report? My husband is so heartbroken...he only wants what's best for his daughter. So sad that the GAL was so easily swayed by a manipulative BM.
How does it make you look
How does it make you look bad?
The report itself is a joke.
The report itself is a joke. It does not address any of the issues we brought up about SD moving to her mom's. Basically all it says is that SD13 is found to be a "mature minor" and should be able to choose where she wants to live; since she wants to live with her BM, the GAL thinks she should.
I respect that however; when
I respect that however; when we went to court 7 years ago the GAL report was against us as well and we did prevail with primary custody so I'm still holding on to that small glimmer of hope.
GAL reports were always
GAL reports were always against DH. It didn't matter how what he did to prove that BM had alienated his son against him to the point they had no relatioship. That didn't matter.
The GAL still sided with BM and used his evidence of alienation against him. For example, BM is from another country and English is not her native language, although she speaks it fluently. BM convinced the GAL that speaking only her native language and her boyfriend's native language at home was in her son's best interest since it kept alive their cultures. So as a toddler and small child, my DH got his son one weekend a month and was dealing with a kid who spoke no English. How was he suppose to bond with his son if he had no ability to communicate with him?
Did the GAL see that? No, he saw it as a reason that DH shouldn't have more custody and told the judge that DH's lack of effort to learn his son's native language showed it was in the best interest for him to stay with his BM and not have increased visitation with his fater.
But in the end, DH does have full custody because BM is legally not allowed to be in the US and had to return to her native country and a judge found it in SS's best interest to remain in the US. I call it karma.
