I love that you "adopt a family". It is so important to remember others and the less fortunate at this time of year. Thank you for remembering to spread the spirit of the season, Aniki.
For the last 15 years, I have been doing the 'Operation Christmas Child" where you donate gifts to a less fortunate child in need in a shoe box. My son (12) and I are going to buy things next week for the boxes he is doing. He spent 10 months this year saving and raising money by walking dogs or washing cars for his own project. He has nearly £350 (US$466) saved for this! Very proud of him

I have always considered that, no matter how tight my funds may be, there are people who are much worse off. I can go without some things so that people in bad situations can have something. Even if it's toilet paper or knowing their electric bill is paid for the month.

Seeing all of my family. People are also so much nicer. Also it is cold!! I love the cold! Then the Christmassy smells!!

Consumerism, greed, fuss over gifts, falseness of some people, shopping centres and malls with the gaudy decoration and schmaltzy music! Blech!! Also, thinking about people who are suffering and less fortunate - leaves me quite sad.

I love the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra this time of year. Any Christmas Music by the VPO!

My family - seeing all of them. Nothing beats this for me and the things we do together.

Mulled wine, gingerbread, hot chocolate, cinnamon, pine trees, orange peel, cloves, frankincense, fresh biscuits baking in the oven, chocolate, champagne, my mother's hair, icy cold sea spray air... Love them all although I probably forgot some.

The greed is so off-putting. It is THE thing I loathe about the skids and Christmas. All they care about is how much is on the gift card DH bought. Not one of them has ever given DH so much as a homemade card for Christmas. :?
