lorazepam vs alprazolam
I'm doing prep work for trial on bm med records. Have I said lately how much I love our atty? Anyway... Does anyone know if going from.5mg lorazepam is an increase or a decrease from .25mg alprazolam?
Anyone take these. Does one work better than the other? Thinking maybe I should get a scrip, ha.
Thanks!
Happy thanksgiving! I'm thankful to still be kicking, to battle bm another day, for you friends, and love... life would be nothing without love!

Seriously, I'm in IT and we google a lot.
I know alprazolam is Xanax.
I know alprazolam is Xanax. I can give you my BMs number and you can ask her. She is a walking pharmacy dictionary and will explain until you bleed from your ears.
From what I remember (an RN)
From what I remember (an RN) those are equivalent doses. Just the Lorazepam (ativan) is slower acting and longer acting than Xanax. e.g. xanax is good for a panic attack, ativan is good for generalized anxiety.
Maybe? Benzo's act to depress
Maybe? Benzo's act to depress our central nervous system - essentially "calm" down excited neurons, so used for anxiety, alcohol withdrawl etc
I guess it depends. They are
I guess it depends. They are for anxiety. Alprazolam is fast acting. Better for panic attacks. If it was a recent switch that might account for a low dosing. You tend to want to start small with those addictive drugs. It could signify a switch from long lasting anxiety to a panic disorder. It could signify a change in providers or insurance. It could be she just wanted to try a new drug. There isn't enough of a difference between the two drugs and dosages to really read into it at all. Without a chart you can never know for sure. They are used for anxiety, but also for sleep disorders, panic disorders... It could be for any thing.
