If a skid calls you but does not leave a voicemail...
...do you call them back?
SD24 called me last night just before 10pm. I was in bed just after 9 and the ringer was off, so I didn't know she'd called until this morning (0520). She did not leave a message. My phone does not work inside my office (I have to walk outside) and I have been on calls all morning, so haven't had the time (or desire) to go outside and call her back.
The last 3 times she's called (in 1+ years), it was because DH wasn't answering his phone and she was calling for a BS reason (2 times for money, 1 time for info she could have gotten online, but DH is faster...). That caca chaps my arse. Hey, SD! Did you ever think that DH:
- left his phone upstairs and went downstairs to play computer games (he rarely looks at his phone and considers it an intrusion)
- was sleeping
- was getting busy with his wife
Of course SD does not bother to consider ANYTHING other than her own selfish needs.
IMHO, no voicemail and no other call means nothing is wrong. Who wants to be a $50 she was looking for DH?

I don't call anyone back if
I don't call anyone back if they don't leave a VM.
I wouldn't call her back.
I wouldn't call her back.
Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to politely get away from the group texts DH includes me on with the dumb skids. They'll text each other these stupid, stupid memes and GIFs all day long, and I'll come out of a meeting to see 20+ texts on my phone...give myself a little heart attack that something's wrong and people have been trying to reach me...only to see it's a string of idiocy from DH's offspring.
Is this seriously what constitutes communication these days? Is DH so desparate for any connection with his kids that he stoops to their level? I don't get it...and I don't want to have to see it. But I'm afraid it will hurt his feelings if I leave the 'conversation' or ask him to quit including me.
if it hurts his feelings,
if it hurts his feelings, that's HIS problem. You should not have to worried at the number of texts (I would react the same way and assuem that something is very wrong), be annoyed at the constant vibrations or dings, or deal with stupid memes and gifs that a grade schooler would find ridiculous.
Tell him the constant chatter is distracting while you are at work and leave the group
Ish. I'm with WOB - if it
Ish. I'm with WOB - if it hurts his feelings, that is HIS problem. "Hey, DH! Could you please NOT include me in group texts? I only need to know the final decision." I am SO thankful that my DH loathes texting. If the skids want something, they know they need to call. If they text, 99 times out of 100, DH will call them. His (legitimate) excuse is that his fingers are too big to text. He wouldn't do that little lovefest crap, either. ~cue projectile barf emoji~
Dont Bother...
Maybe she just called to say hi Aniki how was your easter? HAHA
Dovina, have you been
Dovina, have you been drinking?!?!?!?!? Called to say hi... Bahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!
No. No voicemail no callback
No. No voicemail no callback. Anyone who does this will not get a call back, including co-workers.
Also, if I am texted a "directive" by SD or any rude response...no answer and no help. SD14 doesn't call or text me any longer.
Not calling saves me money!
Not calling saves me money!
No VM, no emergency, no need
No VM, no emergency, no need to call back! That is how I view it with anyone and thankfully my SD doesn't call me! She will do the annoying multiple calls back to back to SO and BM though. She expects them to ALWAYS answer or call back right away and if they don't she wants to know why and decides whether their reason was "valid" or not....ugh!
Oh, I'm certain SD did NOT
Oh, I'm certain SD did NOT want to talk to me. I'm betting that, had I answered, she would have asked to talk to DH...
Pretty pathetic the lengths a
Pretty pathetic the lengths a 24yo will go to just to reach daddeeee in the middle of the night! I mean really....if my dad doesn't answer a text or a call I leave him a voicemail about whatever reasoning I'm calling....not immediately call my step mom to find him! Geesh!
Especially when it's NOT an
Especially when it's NOT an emergency - we all know that!!
Yeah, sorry, but 10pm is damn late to be calling. I don't give a flying fart in space if my DH typically stays up until 1am. I DO NOT. I do not call before 8am (10am on the weekend) or after 8pm (my sister is the only exception and we do not call each other after 9pm).
Yep, evil SM Aniki is only good for getting hold of DH when he doesn't answer your 75 phone calls in the last 45 minutes (exaggeration...). Last time SD called me, she had called DH's phone 17 times in 30 minutes. No, it was NOT an emergency. She wanted info she could have found online. Lazy twunt.
Whoa, that is even more
Whoa, that is even more ridiculous than I expected! 17times in 30 mins!!! Yikes! I have a feeling my SD will be the same when she grows up b/c you know the world revolves around her and her needs! Ugh!?!?!
I am also with you on not calling before/after certain time frames unless it is an actual EMERGENCY!!!!! I do this with everyone because I think it is rude to call people during "off" times whether you know they are awake or not.
Isn't that crazy?! 17 times
Isn't that crazy?! 17 times in 30 minutes. SMDH.
I cannot even begin to imagine what she would do in an actual emergency! Especially when there are areas where we get NO cell signal at all. Case in point: DH and I were out and about and didn't know for several hours that my mother had passed away.
That is really crazy! I don
That is really crazy! I don't even know what else to say at this point...coo coo!!!!
Treat this as you would any
Treat this as you would any other annoying call. Put SD on a par with telemarketers.
Exjulie, I'm kinda liking
Exjulie, I'm kinda liking telemarketers better than SD...
Nope.
"Clearly he must have wanted something" is my 1st thought.
Nope
My SD18 calls me when she can't reach her dad and its always cause she wants a ride somewhere or wants him to buy er something. I don't bother calling back if there's no message
I did NOT call her back. DH
I did NOT call her back. DH said she wanted HIS PHONE NUMBER to wish him Happy Easter.
You don't have it? Call one of your half-siblings and NOT your evil stepmother (who will NEVER answer). And it's pretty damn late at night for that, but mmmmkay. Still think there's more to it since she hasn't called in 3+ months. If she called for money, I know that DH doesn't gave any to give.
Why would you?
Why would you?
If the caller does not leave a message 'Hey how are you? Please call me back", MY interpretation is they don't want you too.
NEVER assume a return call is telepathically communicated. Goodness before you know it a harassment charge is placed on you.
And it would be a
