Busted! "What the hell have you been doing?"
I am in a work transition. The company I joined a year ago is going through a huge overhead cost reduction effort, has released several executives and senior managers and demoted several more. As the "new guy" hired to help transform the company I was not deemed critical to operations and my role was eliminated.
I have been doing some remote consulting work and networking to find a new role.

Family dynamics... How people raised by the same parents can be so different?
Lots of interesting stuff going on in Rags' world. My company just went through an overhead slashing re-organization and my role was eliminated. So... I am knee deep in a new job search. The company eliminated several vice presidencies, demoted several executives and abandoned the strategic direction that I was hired to lead.
It's alive!!!!
Got a call from the kid on Friday and then again today.
The good news. SS-26 has finally completed his ASCS and has applied for a university to complete his BSCS. As it stands it looks like he is on his dad's 11yr undergrad schedule. Hey, no one said I was the best example of focus in the accademia world.br
He tests for E-6 either April 1 or May 1. I can't remember which. It was quick conversaton and focused on the summary of his life for the past 6wks.

I appologize tog redux.
tog redux,
I appologize for the ungentlemanly wording I have used in some of our discussions.
That was not fair of me.
I looked at your profile to get some perspective on your blended family situation/history. There is not much info on your profile. None actually. Only that you have been a member for less than a year.
Please share some of your blended family history so that I and others can gain a better understanding of where you are coming from.
I will make an effort to learn more regarding where you are coming from with your comments.

Sad happenings for our friends.
I have shared in the past about dear friends of ours that have adopted two boys from sexually abusive homes. Their first son they adopted when he was 8 and their younger son was adopted at 6yo a year later.
For this past year + their eldest has been in a state school for sexually abused/aggressive juveniles. He was molesting kid’s on the bus, at school, etc.....

Leopards and changing spots. Old dogs and new tricks.
My MIL flew in on Saturday. So far her visit has been great and oh so enlightening.
My MIL who never considered whether or not a financial decision was good or bad is now Mrs. investment and fiscally conscious.
My CPA bride dragged her mother to a financial advisor about 24mos ago. That was a tear filled event. My MIL burst into tears when the advisor informed her that there was no way that she was going to retire at 65 and that at the earliest would be 75. Lots of lamentation on how that was not the plan, the lost homes, the bankruptcies, etc, etc, etc......
I proposed to my DW that we fly my MIL out for a couple of weeks.
My FIL passed in June 2019. My MIL was notified in Nov that she was eligiable for early retirment with a severence package. She is one of 6 in her office that received this notification. She works for a Gannett paper and they are doing a big reduction apparently.
She applied for the early retirement package and her application was accepted. So... she is between jobs.
I put the bug in my DW's ear day before yesterday that it might be nice for us to bring her here for a break and to spend time with us before her job search efforts pick up too much steam.
And... off he goes... again.
We just finished a great two weeks with the kid. We picked him up from San Antonio on the 14th and dropped him off at the SA Airport this AM for his return to Germany.

Crazy Making... it’s a thing.
I first heard this term recently when we were out with a close friend whose sister is dealing with major emotional issues due to her toxic husband pulling this crap.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/counseling-...
An interesting concept and sadly apparently rampant in the SParent world due to toxic SOs.
