DH became the perfect house husband!

CBCharlotte's picture

I went out of town to NY Thursday and Friday for work, then flew straight to FL for my friend's wedding. DH didn't come, because the flight was expensive (he is unemployed still) and he isn't very close with my friend. I had a girlfriend going solo as well, so we went together.

I landed Sunday at 5 and DH picked me up. When we got home, I was amazed. The house was IMMACULATE! He had vaccumed the whole house, swept and mopped the hardwoods, dusted everything, cleaned all bathrooms, emptied the trash etc. I didn't even know he knew how to use our mop!

Homework Help

How much do you help skids with homework? I get along great with my SD15 and SD12 and their mom, BM1. BM1 has her own literary/editing/ghost writing company, so is strong with english/grammar, but terrible at math.

I, on the other hand, have taken up to Calculus 3 and advanced statistics and am very good at math. SD12 always comes to me for math help. On days we don't have them, she texts me pictures of her "weekly word problem". I enjoy solving them and helping her. Lately, however, I noticed she sends them to me every Tuesday at 4, right when she gets out of school.

Wedding Update...Long, but fun if you like wedding details!

Well, it's been 11 days since our wedding and I figured I would post an update. As a background, since I don't post very often, I have 4 skids....SD15 and SD12 with BM1, and SS5stb6 and SS4 with BM2. SDs were bridesmaids, and SSs were groomsmen. SDs seemed to be excited leading up to the wedding. SSs are always excited about everything lol. The wedding was in Philadelphia (where I'm from). DH is originally from London.

Authority over skids

I seem to have the reverse problem of many on here. My stepsons (5stb6 and 4) seem to view me as the one with authority when with us. I'm the one they ask for permission for anything, for snacks, for help, etc. I keep reminding them Daddy can help as well, but they always want me. I think because in their house, BM is boss and stepdad is second, so they just view the woman as the boss? I don't know. They are sweet boys but sometimes drive me crazy! Go wake up your dad if you want breakfast, not me! Just a mini rant for today.

My wedding is a month from today :-)

I'm excited. I feel like I should be stressed out but I'm really not. Almost everything is done, I just need to follow up on some RSVPs, buy a present for my mom and sister, and pick up my wedding dress from the shop tomorrow.

SO and skids are excited as well. We facetimed with skids yesterday (they are at the beach with BM). SDs are excited about getting their hair done, and SS4 said "CBCharlotte, I can't wait for the wedding, I'm going to bring you pretty flowers for your wedding" He's such a sweetheart.

Young stepmom facing snark from other, older mothers (Article)

CBCharlotte's picture

I stumbled across this today and can definitely relate! I am a 27 year old stepmom (in 2.5 months) of 15 and 12 year old girls. While I am not a stay at home mom (I work at home when not traveling), I do spend a fair bit of time with them. Not at school, but a lot at activities. The oldest does ballet 30 minutes away from our house, and on our weekends I usually take her and sit there for an hour and wait. The other moms want nothing to do with me. It doesn't matter that I had nothing to do with the divorce (which occurered 7 years before I met SO) or that I get along great with BM.

Back from Disney

Overall, I would say it was a success. The "save money by bringing our food to the park" went out the window the second we got there. SO decided it was too much of a hassle and I didn't feel like fighting it. We didn't go crazy, but we did enjoy ourselves.
